Three obstructionist on the State School Board is not something I appreciated nor their agenda.
They were right. And being obstructionist is all you can do sometimes. Stops a lot of mischief. You'd be surprised how many education activists followed this.
And yes, Rove was behind it. I can only assume you didn't pay enough attention. They were shot in the back, not by the Dims. And I never supported Forbes.

Exactly so!
I have been a life long Conservative and have been involved in politics ALL of my life and I'm not exactly " young ". LOL Yet, I have been called names, insulted, told by rather young people, here, that they and THEY alone, are the " REAL " Conservatives, when I accuse them of using DNC talking points. It makes one wonder, just what the heck they imagine the word CONSERVATIVE actually connotes.

After reading your post Saber, I took a quick look over at the web site for the NBPC...and find this graphic.
Among other things that tell me the NBPC is rather obviously biased.
And so the story goes.

OK, I see some are buying the false "plea bargain" analogy. Here's why it doesn't fly: Picture yourself with a piece of property, and someone pitches a tent and starts living there. They're tresspassing. So you call a cop, and he shows up with the D.A. and a judge, and the three of them go out onto your property, chat with the tresspasser, collect some money, shake his hand, and start to leave. You stop them, and ask "Hey, why are you leaving that tresspasser on my property?" The DA says "We struck a plea bargain, and he paid a fee." And you say "But he's still tresspassing! You're letting him get away with it?" And the DA, whose name is Southack, says "no, we struck a plea bargain." |

I wonder how many self-proclaimed "true conservatives" have been getting walking-around money from Mr. Soros.

I was living there at the time and involved so I know exactly who was behind it. The problem to me was how they were obstructing -- didn't do any good and couldn't talk to them. My State Rep tried and tried to no avail. The School Board was at a stalmate and bad for Texas schools which were having a hard enough time after four years of Ma Richards and her little buddy Perot.
It was a bad time and their all or nothing approach turned a lot of people off who may have agreed with them in theory but not in their in your face approach. My State Rep was as conservative as they come and he couldn't deal with them. It really left a bad taste in my mouth.
Was on the Textbook Committee as well so I was involved in Texas schools.

Just happened to me on another thread.
A young arrogant whippersnapper just out of diapers calling me an 'old fool' and lacking in patriotism because I wasn't a conservative like HE was.
I laughed. He'll learn........maybe.

Indeed.
See, I have this dang silly habit of checking out the credibility or integrity of persons who are quoted as being expert subject matter on different things.

I think stay-at-home people are the greatest threat as well and why they need motivated.
Oddly enough, I think you and I and Mr. Rove are all agreed on this one.
Not only that, but party support often sags when it's in a strong position like we are with all three branches. Complacence. Just like the Dims in '94. But they missed their chance in '02 because of 9/11, I think. Harder to do a takeover like that in a general election because you always get a better turnout.
Don't always agree with Pat but there are times he comes up with some real zingers that are really good! Still wish he would have stayed in the Republican Party and fought from within the Party and had his voice heard even if I didn't agree!
After his miserable campaign and then trying to give his votes in Floriduh (and the election) to Gore, Buchanan can go straight to hell as far as I'm concerned. Now and then, I'll still look if he's on TV or scan an article posted here at FR (usually by Bush supporters) but I have no great patience for that man.
To: Wolfstar
Thanks for posting this list and standing up for our great President. I rarely participate in discussions, but recently I am increasingly disturbed by all the anti-Bush threads here on FR. I think President Bush has done a great job, especially given the circumstances of the 2000 election. In this difficult period in our nation's history, he has performed extremely well. I merely voted for him in 2000, but I will work hard for his re-election this year.
To: ohioWfan
He might learn, but then again, one has to really wonder just HOW Consedrvative these people are to begin with. Some are trolls, some are fringers ( and fringers are NOT Conservatives at all ! ), and many don't have even a glimmer of an idea, what reality is.
Hey....us "OLD " folks have a duty to enlighten the wet behind the ears crowd. LOL
