Thanks to the generosity of anonymous donors, free "Catholic Care Packages" are now available for our military troops.

Each packet contains a New Testament, a handmade rosary, a religious medal and small crucifix that can be worn on a dog chain, a Catholic prayer book, two holy cards and a booklet on how to pray the rosary. This packet is provided and sent directly to the designated Catholic troop at no cost to you, as a way of spiritually supporting our Catholics in uniform.

Support Fisher House
The Fisher House program is a unique private-public partnership that supports America's military in their time of need by providing homes close to a loved one during the hospitalization for an unexpected illness, disease, or injury.

There are currently 31 houses located on the grounds of every major military medical center and several VA medical centers. These houses will play a critical role in caring for casualties from Operation Iraqi Freedom. Donations will be used to help meet the cost of lodging for a family whose loved one was injured in Operation Enduring Freedom or Operation Iraqi Freedom. There is a limit to the number of families who can stay in a Fisher House and program is committed to help provide lodging for families who must find commercial lodging, because the Fisher House is full.

Thanks for another great thread!

I posted this GOOD NEWS late last night on yesterday's thread, but thought perhaps I should repeat it here for those who may have missed it:

You may recall that I'd asked for prayers for a young man from my daughter's church (Jack Preston, Jr.) who was injured in Iraq. (I apologize, but she doesn't remember which branch of service he was in.) He was close enough to an explosion that it caused lingering ringing in his ears, which in turn caused constant vertigo. ... Well, yesterday he was at church and is now able to walk without the cane! He still has to carry the cane just in case, but she said he walked into church and swung the cane in the air to show everyone how much his condition is improving! All of our prayers are working!

A PRAYER OF PROTECTION

The light of God surround you
The love of God enfold you
The power of God protect you
The presence of God watch over you
Wherever you are,God is,
And all is well.
Amen.

Bless This House

Bless this house O Lord we pray;
Make it safe by night and day;
Bless these walls so firm and stout,
Keeping want and trouble out:
Bless the roof and chimneys tall,
Let thy peace lie over all;
Bless this door, that it may prove
ever open to joy and love.

Bless these windows shining bright,
Letting in God's heav'nly light;
Bless the hearth a'blazing there,
with smoke ascending like a prayer;
Bless the folk who dwell within,
keep them pure and free from sin;
Bless us all that we may be
Fit O Lord to dwell with thee;
Bless us all that one day we
May dwell O Lord with thee.

(Click on praying hands above, or on banner at the top to hear the music)
