I tend to agree with the poster above (can't remember who) that suggested the timing of the attack during the Super Bowl would have a worldwide audience, as millions around the world will be watching U.S. television.
Doesn't have to be an attack on or near the Super Bowl, just somewhere in the U.S. in that timeframe. It would surely preempt the Super Bowl broadcast and have a captive, worldwide audience. Good propaganda, good rallying call for jihad everywhere, great psychological effect on all watching.
