Dean gets mean – on live TV (Orders aides to remove his wife from rally)
World Net Daily ^ | 1/26/04

Posted on 01/26/2004 6:29:15 AM PST by truthandlife

Howard Dean was courting the women's vote at a Women for Dean rally yesterday in Hooksett, N.H., with the help of C-Span cameras carrying the action live.

But it turned ugly after the rally when he ordered his aides to remove his politically shy wife, Judith Steinberg Dean.

"Get her out," he said. "Get her out. Get her out."

The cameras and microphones caught it all.

Earlier, Dr. Steinberg had introduced the candidate. They even exchanged loving glances.

But, inexplicably, Dr. Dean turned into Mr. Hyde.

Dean's campaign has been in freefall since an appearance just before the Iowa caucuses in which he appeared less than presidential.

Dean even alluded to that speech recently in a TV interview.

Diane Sawyer of ABC News showed what has become known as "the screech" during an interview with both Dean and his wife.

Dean acknowledged on the program that his performance not "presidential," but said he was not "apologetic."

"Was it over the top? Sure it was over the top," he said. "Do I do things that are a little nutty? Sure, I do things that are a little nutty. Last night, I went to a hockey game, my son got an assist on the first goal, I went 'Yahoo,' and jumped up in the air," he added. "That's presidential? Probably not. So, I'm a dad, I'm a human being, I'm going to keep being a dad and a human being."

I'm not a Dean supporter, but I get sick and tired of the media sensationalizing insignificant moments like these.

Same thing applies to coverage of GOP candidates. Focus on the irrelevant and run a week of it. Like the DUI thing and some other stuff they ran on Bush.

Hard to believe that people really need to hear the scream that many times.

Actually, the more times I saw it and heard it, the less it even bothered me or seemed that unpresidential. Every candidate does that stuff. Dean just happened to have a mike in his hand.

Now, his singing really does suck. But he's not bad on acoustic guitar.

Having seen Judy Steinberg, I don't think she's done abortions. She's just too soft and sweet. I think she'd start crying at the thought of having to do one. And I don't think Dean did either because the P.P. clinic he worked for didn't perform any the entire time he worked their. Not all P.P. clinics do abortions, some just refer to another clinic.

FNC just mentioned this rally and Judy's intro of Howie. No focus on the 'get her out' remark. Given the long knives they have out for Dean at Fox, I think this thread is much ado about nothing.

nobody is even mentioning that this jerk want's to have his hand on the nuclear button. if he's this unglued onthe campaign trail, what would he do if we have another 9-11?

If he were to be elected president he would constitute a valid reason for complete US nuclear disarmament.

Otherwise, I suspect Mecca might be in trouble if another 9-11 occurred...that or complete surrender to Islam...time to go out and buy a prayer mat.

I don't agree with Dean politically, but the press sure is picking on stupid things. I didn't even think his "nuts" speech was over the top. I also thought Diane Sawyer was just nasty in her interview with the Dean's. Sawyer picked on Judy Dean not using her husband's name professionally. Judy Dean said nicely, at home I'm just Judy Dean. Professionally, I'm Dr. ??? (I can't remember her name). Lots of women in professions keep their maiden names because of the recognition. It's not a big deal.

Sawyer complained that Judy Dean doesn't campaign like Hillary Clinton. Who cares. Judy Dean comes off much better than Hitlery.

"Get her out," he said. "Get her out. Get her out."

What did she do?

''Get her out. Get her out!''

Uh, Dr.Dean, er 'Candidate' Dean - when did you stop beating your wife?
That's assuming you did stop.

It's almost like the media has an interest in making sure it's a Bush/Kerry election. On second thought forget the almost. I can call the winner now, S&B.

I hate to don the Alcoa cap myself, but watching FoxNews lately and the other media too, one does get the feeling it's all been arranged. S & B indeed...

Why did he want his wife removed?

Is it possible she wanted out and the crowd was blocking her way?

Some wag has already dubbed Dean's screech as the "I have a scream" speech.

It's probably just a coincidence, but my wife thought the laundry list of nations during the SOTU speech was a subtle dig at the "I have a scream" speech. (Did Karl Rove cut the "Wahoo!" at the end from the rough draft? Hmm?)

The one thing he has not done is use his wife as a political prop...uh, that's what the criticism has been, that she hasn't been around. It is obvious that World Net Daily misreported this non-event.

There's plenty to bash Dean about without resorting to this nonsense.

Others thought so, too. Also, Dean himself cleverly did his list again later in the week, but in a calm soothing sing-song voice, getting huge laughs and applause from the crowd. That and the Letterman appearance appears to be the point where he turned the corner on overcoming the overhyped negative coverage. (The beginning of his stanching the blood was the Sawyer interview with his wife)
