"OK. First, why was the teenager burning? How did the computer make her explode? And why was a burning teenager online?"

I wondered how long it would take till someone explored that angle.

What, Linux is smoke free? What? I know little about it. We have a machine at home that was recently linuxed, but the geek hasn't played with it enough for me to get in on the action.

Funny tonight I was wondering why FR was loading so slowly, and my leg was covering the CPU fan (which is on the bottom of this laptop).

If you go to any given manufacturer's web site, you'll see that they're always recalling lots of laptop batteries bacuase of manufacturing defects. They have a tendency to overheat when they're charging.

Lithium batteries become unstable after they have reached their maximum recycling period.

No, that is usually the sound that I make when the computer freezes in the middle of something important...but that is the rated "g" version. The one that I like to use is much more adult oriented.

Had a monitor explode in front of me.
It buzzed, threw sparks out the top vents, and smoked.
The picture wavered, snapped bright, and then disappeared forever.
I unplugged it in record time, and ran with it outside to the dumpster and pitched it.
Wonder if there's an Olympic event for shotputting computer monitors?

As long as you weren't hurt, now all you can do is regret not having a camcorder for America's Funniest Videos....assuming that you can laugh at it now.

Do you know what happened?

A cat puked in the top of my CRT monitor and all it did was buzz angrily and shut down (the monitor, not the cat).

Well, dust collected inside it, and it not being a part of the machinery that you can open and vacuum out once in awhile, it did it's impression of a bowl of rice crispies.
*chuckle*
I can still laugh about it, now.
At the time I was racing about with a smoking monitor in my hands.
And I don't have a camcorder, unfortunately.

Cat puking down the back of a monitor I've seen before.
It was a Trinitron monitor, nice expensive monitor at the time.
And it flashed brightly, smoked, hissed, and threw sparks right into the cat's face.
Who continued to pour the contents of her stomach into the moniitor.
She seemed amused and satisfied with herself afterwards.

I came with that joke first, posted it on a geeky chat room, and then I found that someone posted it before I did on here, I'm suing!!:P

Quick, call the Thought Police! Then, call your Thought Lawyer. And if you donate to the Dems AND you clearly demonstrate your lack of self-reliance, an ACLU Thought-Lawyer(tm) will be at your side in a jiffy...ready to trash the last bastions of common sense in a single stroke of his (its) pen.
