Folks should remember that Gore and Nader got 51 percent last time round and that immigrants and their children joining the voting roles have probably added another one percent to the blue side of the ledger since then.

Bush has always faced a tough reelection fight - even before he pissed off his base.

Last year, Kerry said he didn't need the South to win the White House. He planned on blowing off the South and concentrate his resources on NH, NV, AZ, MI, PA, WI, and MN.

I hope he is still planning on following that election strategy. We need to win those open Senate seats in the South.

This would be laughable except it seems some of you believe it. Conservatives once again will shoot themselves in the foot and then scream for 4 years if a democrat is elected. Even democrats don't get everything they want when they elect a President. So, go ahead and let a democrat be elected and then please be quiet for the following 4 years. IMO, I am about fed up listening to the whining of so called conservatives. Be happy for once in your life (if that is possible)that we have a wonderful President who we should respect. Thank you very much!!!!!!!!!!!

This is not good. W is starting to fade even earlier than his Poppy did. If any of you bigwig Republican movers and shakers out there are reading this, now's the time to jettison the wishy-washy bullcrap and go on the attack, before we see history repeat itself.

As a result, Kerry is enjoying a marginal advantage over Bush, a first for the poll. Forty-nine percent of registered voters chose Kerry, compared to 46 percent who re-elected Bush.

Complete crap. I guarantee that 49% of voters could not even pick John Kerry out of a three-man lineup.

Bush has taken a lot of hits from the Dems and has not hit back. All we've seen on the news networks is all about the Democrats and what they say about Bush (not positive) and Bush has not truly engaged with them. I hope this changes soon. Also, I think this poll is BS.

I can tell you falt up that this poll is a pile of $hit and at best is inpet and worse a lie to help democrats. Kerry does not have the name recognition to do this and the most recent FOX News poll (as of 1/25) has Bush beating Kerry by 7 points.

Good thing the election isn't for ten and a half months...

I think polls should be banned.

The reality is, politicians all hate elections. The thought that mere civilians, ones with dirty hands at that, can cause their matchless life to come to an end by such a crude tool as voting is just...just...unthinkable.

So, they prefer a contest in which the outcome is fixed.

How to do it?

Run elections like they were sporting events, with teams. Encourage voters to "pick their team" before they know anything about the candidates, by constant polling.

Use their friends in the media to push, "Who's ahead?"

Of course, the only relevant endpoint is who is ahead after all the votes are counted on November 2-3, 2004, and who has 271 electoral votes as a result.

The rest of this is meaningless garbage.

Part of me seriously thinks . . . we should give a founding father's idea a try.

It seems to me we waste toooo much time and resources and make a lot of stupid-for-the-Republic decisions because the Pres has to run again for office 3 years or less after being sworn in.

Go with one 6 year term and be done with it. If we like the guy--find another close in character and goals.

I didn't know Rats ran in packs.

Kerredy, I mean Kerry, will get his butt whumped by Bush.

Kerredy, I mean Kerry, is a far left liberal, Bush's mental inferior, and he lacks the kind of charm, charisma and attractiveness that draws DemocRats who are lured by superficialities and controlled by emotion instead of logic.

What we are seeing here is the typical leftist manoever of propagandizing lies and phoney polls.
