Godebert:

Laura's from a mostly died in the wool democratic family. However, I doubt that she votes against George W.

Wondering whether or not she is Christian is silly.

I will point out, however, that while she may be pro-choice, or liberal, or whatever ... I highly doubt that she will make disparaging remarks about the head of state of one of our closest allies.

As to how much influence she has ... I remember way back when, before George W. ran for President ... there was a LOT of news coverage here in Texas that he was trying to get his wife to agree to his running. She did not particularly want to do it, and it held off on announcing until he got her agreement and support for the his campaign.

I think that this shows basic respect between a married couple. It was refreshing to see a president's wife who wasn't eager to get her mitts on Presidential power and influence.

I believe we can depend on Laura not to embarrass either the President or the US. And, I'm sure her hospitality to the Blairs will remain impeccable, and probably genuinely friendly.

Cherie Blair has the right to express her opinion, just like Madonna has the right to stick her tongue down Britney Spear's throat. And, we also have the right to form our OWN opinions about the acts.

Incidentally ... don't you think that Tony and Cherie are politically savvy enough to play good cop, bad cop?

That was decades ago. There were generations of conservative yellow dog DemocRATS in Texas up until the 1990s. As the DemocRAT party veered more and more to the left beginning in the 1960s, most of the yellow dog DemocRATS left the DemocRAT party.
