Palm Beach State Attorneys Office Dances Atop Their SUV, Releases Confidential Correspondence
Roy Black Comments on the State's Release of Confidential Correspondence
Miami, FL January 23, 2004 Roy Black, attorney for Rush Limbaugh, issued the following statement today regarding confidential correspondence that was released to the media by Palm Beach State Attorney Barry Krischer.
My letter to Mr. Krischer regarding Mr. Limbaughs case asked that Mr. Limbaugh be afforded the treatment anyone else would receive. The State's response was preposterous, but consistent with their double standard in this case. The facts are: Mr. Limbaugh went to these doctors to relieve chronic, intractable pain; there was no doctor shopping. Mr. Limbaugh never considered accepting the States ludicrous offer. He was not going to plea to something he did not do. We sent them a letter suggesting Mr. Limbaugh be treated in a similar manner that others had been treated. They responded with a preposterous offer. Discussions ended at that time. At no time was there ever a plea agreement of any kind.
"What the records dont show is that before we could draft a letter responding to the State, we received a phone call from a newspaper reporter, as a result of a leak by the State Attorneys office, asking us whether Mr. Limbaugh had agreed to enter a plea. As I told the court last month, we think the State Attorneys Office should be investigated for journalist shopping.
"What is most troubling here is the continued violations of Florida law and bar ethics by the State Attorneys Office. One need look no further than the bold caption on top of my letter alerting everyone to the confidential nature of the communication. The disclosure of these highly confidential communications violates the Florida statutes, the rules of procedure and evidence, and the Florida Bar Rules governing professional conduct. Because the State has no case against Mr. Limbaugh they continually seek to discredit him in the media.

There's a lot of incidental linkages between southern Florida and the Westerfield case. I'd be wondering if any of the players are the same, or "one degree from".

Toobin is a piece of garbage second to none. He worked for Walsh, the special prosecutor who sabataged the first president Bush with a phoney report right before the 92 election. Further, Toobin was accused by Walsh of stealing the paperwork generated during their so called investigation.
Seems the less ethics the more the leftist media likes you.....i.e.; Doris Kearns Goodwin and Jeffrey Toobin.......among others.

From the first moment I heard that Roy Black was the attorney for Rush I knew Rush was in trouble. Black is without ethics and ought to have been disbarred for his conduct during the Willie Smith rape trial.
He was having an affair with one of the jurors in that case. Subsequently, he divorced his wife and married the juror. Soon he was sporting a pony tail and pretending to be a young stud.

You are right. Rush needs more rehab. It's becoming impossible to listen to his show. He is unable to focus on one topic at a time. Very sad.......

only intellectually honest people will be willing to presume a person is innocent before he is found guilty Yep. I have to wonder at FReepers who seem stubbornly convinced Rush is guilty of illegal acts. Rush hasn't been charged with any crimes and probably never will be.

What a bunch of BS! I listen almost daily and Rush is totally on the mark. He has had incredible insights on the primaries and debates and all other issues.
He is doing an excellent job, as he has always done.
He could beat up on Bush a little more for spending all that money but generally Rush has been insightful and funny.

Yeah, an NFL quarterback would NEVER have chronic pain. What do you think allowed him to play through many injuries that would have sidelined most? 208 consecutive starts. You think he's never had pain that needed to be dealt with by using powerful narcotics?

Also, I'd doubt Brett is a liberal. Say, you're not also a Bearsfam, are you?

Well, I was disappointed when Rush said that President Bush's illegal amnesty proposal was "a lousy plan" but "not that important in the scheme of things" (heavily paraphrased--I can't remember his exact words). And after tapdancing around the issue for about a day or two after the proposal aired, he's seemed to want to avoid discussion of it entirely.

Do you think using narcotics that have been illegally obtained, whether from a doctor or his maid, is perfectly okay?

It's not bs. Rush has been insightful through it all, nevertheless, with his addiction, he lost a certain spontaneity, and , again, a certain humorlessess has crept back in. If there are archives of him upon his return from rehab, you will hear a ponderous, more honest person. His vocal chords were, once again, clearer, and he was not garbled by phlegm. By Friday, now, the phlegm is overwhelming. And when he really loses it, the phlegm sticks in his mouth and he transposes syllables. He knows this and tries hard to overcome it, but the lure of the weekend high is too much. I'll take Rush like this because I would rather have this Rush rather than no Rush--I like him very much. But, eventually, we'll all pay for this selfishness because he will become a hollow man and the views he holds will be hollow, too. So, we all lose. V's wife.

NO problem. I make mistakes all the time. This is a discussion among friends, so I suspected you had made an honest mistake. Thanks, much appreciated.

I for one will give him a ton of slack. What he has been through and is continuing to go through is not easy. But everyday he comes on and for three hours delivers great radio. The best radio in the country. He is the best. There is no one close. And don't even try to compare him to Hannity!
He has been out of rehab for two months. Lesser people would still be huddled in a corner with their thumbs in their mouth but Rush has been on everyday with insightful analysis of the political doings.
To: Trust but Verify

You think he's never had pain that needed to be dealt with by using powerful narcotics?I don't know, some guys are tough and some aren't. Walter Payton barely ever missed a game, but if anybody even looked at Jim McMahon he would crumple and be sidelined for weeks.
Also, I'd doubt Brett is a liberal.
I have no idea what his politics are. But I do know a double standard when I see it. The idea that Favre is courageous for beating his drug habit, but Limbaugh is a villain, looks like a giant double standard to my eyes.
Say, you're not also a Bearsfam, are you?
Yes, unfortunately
To: Cubs Fan
Well, you're brave for admitting it. Maybe next year.
To: CMAC51
I don't think he has admitted obtaining them illegally.I suppose he hasn't but I don't logically see any other way of obtaining them.
To: ConservativeMan55
"Because the State has no case against Mr. Limbaugh they continually seek to discredit him in the media." That's usually the case, and I'm always skeptical of the media pounding on "leaks" that are supposed to be confidential and of the prosecutors who make their case on TV.

Good evening. I trust you are well.
May I ask if you will be assisting in the defense of Mr. Limbaugh? If so, good luck to you, and best wishes to Rush.
