That still makes no sense. I can see no reason not to release the caliber. This is very stupid of them.

We had another press conference this afternoon announcing that the I-71 shooting is now officially linked to the others. Apparently a fingerprint has also been lifted from the bridge as well as two shell casings.

This is very stupid of them.Really. They have casings with the caliber stamped on the back and refuse to tell the public what the shooter(s) are using. The only reason I can think of for this is to keep 100's or 1000's of tips from coming in and then having to check up on them, or maybee they have multiple calibers? It wouldn't be hard to toss some range brass around to throw off leads...Of course it also wouldn't be hard to tape a bag onto a reciever either.
