SYRIA COMPLETES CW WARHEADS Syria has completed chemical warheads for its arsenal of Scud-based missiles. U.S. officials said Syria, with help from North Korea, has succeeded in designing and installing CW warheads for the Scud B, Scud C and Scud D missiles.
This provides Syria with warheads that can reach distances from 250 to nearly 700 kilometers. The chemical agent deployed in the CW warheads is sarin, regarded as the most toxic of material. Syria has also been developing more toxic agents such as VX.
"Since the 1970s, Syria has pursued what is now one of the most advanced Arab state chemical weapons capabilities," undersecretary of State John Bolton said. "It has a stockpile of the nerve agent sarin that can be delivered by aircraft or ballistic missiles, and has engaged in the research and development of more toxic and persistent nerve agents such as VX." Perhaps, that is where Saddam's chemical weapons went.

Perhaps, but have they learned to shoot down an incoming? Anyone they might fire that stuff at has.

I think this time we should wait until they actually use them. Then we should send the U.N. in to document the horror and destruction, come back and send the evidence into committee for discussion. After that we should get the topic on the next UN Security Council meeting agenda to discuss and see if we can line up inspectors to confirm the documented evidence, and on and on and on.....
To: leadpencil1
That's exactly what would happen under a Kerry, Dean or Edwards administration. Furthermore, it would all be done through our ambassador to the UN, Bill Clinton.

The Sierra Club and perhaps Greenpeace should become involved.
To: Ryan Bailey
Right now, it extends from 250 to 700 km.

"Mr. Secratary Anan, Since Syria launched their weapons against Isreal killing 1.7 million Jews, and the Jews counter acted by nuking Demascus killing 2 million muslims, then they countered killing another 500,000, and Iran said it would defend Syria against the Zion invaders, and are currently on the march, I think we should have a vote on invading Demascus."

Therefore, I move that this committee table this issue until we have conferred with Moammar Quadaffi, head of the Human Rights Committee."

Syria is next up to bat, Iran is on deck, North Korea is batting cleanup.
To: leadpencil1
Hey, wasn't good ol' Moammar big with you guys lately ? He offered his blood after 9/11 and invited inspectors to verify that there was no WMDs in Lybia, no sireee...
To: leadpencil1
What a minute. What is the problem. They dont have CW, right?
They don't have missiles to deliver them, right?
Now move along.

problem is, if they launch on Israel, Israel will retaliate with Jericho II nuclear-tipped missiles ... guaranteed ...
I certainly support Israel's right but it will be a whole new world on that day ...

Bringing chemical weapons to a nuclear war. Not a good move.

And .. these scuds are in a moat around the city of Damascus .. where they are pointed directly at Israel.

it will be a whole new world on that day ... If Egypt can stay out of it, it will be the end of an era. Syria is totally isolated now.

do you think the mullahs in Iran would let Syria go so easily, though? ... I'm not so sure ... not yet anyway ...

The Arab mullahs of Iran wouldn't be able to do much. The Iranians would probably not be willing to mobilize like they did when Iran was attacked by Saddam since Iran itself wouldn't be under attack. If Iran launched some missiles toward Israel, they would have to know that they were stirring up a hornets' nest and it would be some kind of desperation move. Iran isn't at all desperate now, so they probably wouldn't involve themselves in an Israel/Syria slugfest.
