Just which side is alienating other countries anyway?
TIME Magazine

I saw a letter to editor in the Jan. 26 edition of TIME magazine which I thought went right along what Bush said about not ignoring the sacrifices made by the other countries. The 4th letter on the 10th page was written by Marek Witko from London who expressed that he was "extremely upset" that TIME selected the American Soldier as the Person of the Year. He noted that Italy, Spain, Britain, and Poland all have lost guys in Iraq and asks "Why weren't their lives and sacrifices recognized as noble and noteworthy like the Americans?" Here is a citizen of another country feeling alienated not because Bush acted unilaterally, but because the courage and valor of his countrymen were not being recognized as significant.

It's Rumsfield's fault. He should have just appeared on as Man of the Year.

Has he never read time magazine ?. I'll bet like everything else they are for, most right thinking people find off putting. I believe All the Patriots in this world, mourn the loss of All these Brave Men.

The letter writer should drop his subscription to Time and visit this board. The only time I hear of Non-US casualties, it seems like I hear of them here first and most. I never heard about the first Polish casualty on NBC, but here someone even posted pictures of the man.
The exception being when the terrorists get lucky and kill 10 or 15 in one attack.

Yes, but that wasn't my point. I noticed his complaint could be aimed directly at the candidates accusing Bush of acting "unilaterally" rather than a TIME magazine nomination, and it would fit completely. I doubt that Marek Witko would agree with the assertion that the U.S. acted "unilaterally". Rather, he'd be offended by it.

TIME is an American magazine so, an American would naturally have 'dibs' on being "Man of the Year."

Maybe I should have said,"Geographically speaking,
TIME is an American magazine."
