When Bush Loses In November, He Will Have No One To Blame But Himself
By Chuck Baldwin
Food For Thought From The Chuck Wagon
January 23, 2004 Let me be the first one to say it: President Bush is on track to lose in November, and it won't matter who his Democratic opponent is. His fabrications, deceptions, and prevarications are just too much to stomach. His duplicity rivals anything in the previous administration, a Republican name plate notwithstanding.
It's hard to think of anything this president has done right. His policies are every bit as socialist (or fascist) as the most liberal Democrat. We have lost more freedoms during the last three years than we had lost during the previous thirty! Even though Bush has enjoyed Republican majorities in both houses of Congress, neither conservatives nor constitutionalists can point to a single victory Bush has given them. Not one!
Babies are still being aborted at an escalating rate. The Bush administration has done as much (or more) to promote the homosexual agenda as any Democrat. Bush has proliferated the growth of federal spending and corresponding federal deficits to levels not seen in decades. Furthermore, he has created the embryo of a giant Orwellian police state while at the same time offering amnesty and legitimacy to foreign criminals who have invaded our country. If all of that isn't bad enough, Bush even threw his support behind the Clinton gun ban!
Due to Bush's dismal record, the Democratic nominee (whoever he is) will have to work at losing this election. The facade of a "wartime" president is wearing thin. Moreover, gas and oil prices have skyrocketed since oilmen Bush and Cheney rode into Washington, D.C. In addition, without a willingness to cut spending, Bush's tax cuts are a fraud! And now Bush wants to spend an additional billion dollars annually (where this money is coming from nobody knows) to send men to Mars. Get real!
Beyond that, Bush has repeatedly stated that his war against Iraq was fought for the purpose of "enforcing the demands of the United Nations." Now, isn't that lovely? Does he really expect us to re-elect him President of these United States after hearing that he ordered more than 500 brave, patriotic Americans to die in Iraq on behalf of the UN? Does he think we are a bunch of morons? He must.
G.W. Bush deserves to be a one-term president. And the truth is, the nation won't be worse off with a Democratic replacement. At least with a Democrat in the White House, Republicans in Congress might decide to actually oppose liberal policies.
With a liberal Democrat in the White House, a president might get 40% of his agenda through Congress. Bush, on the other hand, will get 80% of his policies through Congress, and Bush's policies are every bit as bad as any liberal Democrat's. So, you tell me who is actually "the lesser of two evils."
(If you would like to track the ongoing Bush record, go to http://www.chuckbaldwinlive.com/bushrecord.html.)
Therefore, when Bush loses in November, he will have no one to blame but himself.

I've got issues with Bush, but they're not the kind of issues that make me want to slit my wrist and walk into the polling station with a tinfoil cap on to vote for a mealy mouthed liberal whether they come from the Constitution Party or the Democrat Party.
I didn't believe in the Y2K fiasco, and I don't believe Bush will lose.

Deport, what you wrote here could have been written in January 1992 as well. Only twelve years have come and gone.
I think the columnist is saying that G.W. Bush could have already lost reelection though the process has not yet really begun in earnest. I know that such a scenario seems unlikely at this point, but Bush is making many wrong moves from the standpoint of "movement" conservatives. The recess appointment of Judge Pickering seems an aberration on the president's part from his otherwise liberal stances.
As John Adams said of the American Revolution, "it began in the hearts and minds of the people" before the first shots were fired at Lexington.
So, it could be that discontent with G.W. Bush has already set in. There are tens of millions of avowed Democrats determined to defeat him at all costs. They consider him an interloper in the office. And there are tens of thousands of conservatives who are totally uninterested in the Bush campaign. Many of these may not even bother to watch the presidential debates in the fall. He just does not excite such voters, whom you consider malcontents but who believe that Bush is not the conservative that they (perhaps falsely) led themselves to believe that he was.
For some, it is going to be much harder to pull the Bush lever than it has been in the past to support the Republican candidate. No, I am not talking about conservatives voting Democrat. That won't happen. But many will just skip the presidential part of the ballot or not vote at all. Bush needs to give his base a reason to come to the polls, other than saying "I am not Kerry" or "I am not Edwards" or whoever the Democrats run.
It may be that conservatives finally decide to vote for Bush in the fall solely over the Supreme Court appointments. Then many fear that his first court vacancy will go to Judge Gonzales, who has said that David Souter is one of the justices now sitting on the court whom he most admires.
I think Bush needs to get in touch with his base, but maybe those disillusioned with the administration are a small minority of malcontents, as you and many on the forum seem to think.

I intend to hold Bush accountable for the decline of affordable health care in America. I feel that he is in favor of pharmacuetical companies instead of the people. You "FEEL" Bush is in favor of pharmacuetical companies instead of the people?
Try showing us some facts to back up your "feelings". My bet is you can't.
The decline of affordable health care in America is due in most part to out of control litigation driving the cost of malpractice insurance through the roof and many Doctors out of business.
It is the DEMS and their lawyer supporters who are opposing Republicans and Bush on tort reform and limiting the outrageous jury awards that are making ALL OF OUR health insurance premiums unaffordable.
How many $50 million settlements do you think an Insurance company can pay off without raising it's rates?
Bush is NOT to blame for this nonsense. It is clearly the Dems and their greedy lawyer constituents.

Excitable fellow. A liar as well. I used to cut Chuckie some slack because I thought his heart was in the right place, but this is outright misrepresentation.
It's hard to think of anything this president has done right.
Afghanistan. Iraq. Telling the UN to take a hike. Telling the French to go with them. Visiting the troops on Thanksgiving day.
We have lost more freedoms during the last three years than we had lost during the previous thirty!
Uh, such as?
Babies are still being aborted at an escalating rate.
Nope. It's down annually every year since 1990.
The Bush administration has done as much (or more) to promote the homosexual agenda as any Democrat.
More than Clinton's gays in the military push in 1992? I don't think so.
It's clear that there is room for criticism of Bush on his approach to all of the above issues, but the statements as written are simply untrue. We deserve better than that from a fellow who is ostensibly a man of the cloth.

Baldwin being a pastor has to be careful of what he says. A pastor shouldn't say things like that. It is a danger thing to fall in the hand of an angry god.

The recess appointment of Judge Pickering seems an aberration on the president's part from his otherwise liberal stances If you truly believe that then there is NOTHING Bush can do. If you can not objectively see a stellar conservative record then why should this "base" ever be listed to again. My lord man, the conservative "base" makes up 20% of the GOP and they have been given 75% of the agenda to date, from taxes, to foreign policy,to national security, to the UN, to court nominations, to abortion, to cabinet positions, to Congressional leaders to economic policy and to every conservative social issue to date. For crying out loud, how much consideration for 20% of the population is enough. I thought that conservatives were against affirmative action. I guess when it come to conservative issues affirmative action is not only good it is demanded.

It's impossible to imagine the existence of any honest Democratic politician anymore. Seems they would all be in there plundering the national treasure and racketeering and cannibalizing off of the hard work of others if they could.
To: tessalu
"I intend to hold Bush accountable for the decline of affordable health care in America." President Bush is TRYING to get some privatization of health care going.....sheesh.....as if HE is the RESPONSIBLE party for the current situation. The decline of "affordable health care" isn't as bad as you think, honey.....move somewhere else, if you think you can find better.

You are good at bringing out crap from times past..... Can you accept that they are past and we are in the present.... Sure President Bush can lose. Lots of things can happen, some good some bad....
Today the young voters in the age bracket 18 to 29 are supporting President Bush at some 62%.... This is very refreshing, not normal of past trends and if the democrats are to win the Presidency they must have this group..... They've never won the Presidency without them. Look for a post from CPAC and the info posted about the young groups there that are all enthuased about President Bush.
The dynamics of Presidential elections have changed and are changing..... I personally don't think the base has left him at this stage... Polls don't show that. Yes they show some dissatisfaction with some of his proposals...... but the discontent you see on this forum isn't representative of the public at large, imo. Where you here in 1999 and 2000?
You maybe correct in the final analysis but based upon your history of predicting election outcomes as posted here on FR I have little faith in them. You've never met a democrat you didn't like, think that would win, or sing the praises of or so it seems to me. We'll see.
