I tried to follow the link, but got a 404 error. When were the Dems told about this?

They were told about it last July.

So the files were accessed from spring (whatever month it may have been) through July? Then the Pubbies were in the wrong, because they should have told the Dems from day one.
The fact that the Dems left it open for almost a year after being told doesn't exactly help their case. Still, just because someone leaves their door open doesn't give one the right to walk in and take their belongings.

Wrong.
If an opponent does something completely boneheaded and gives you an opportunity to take advantage of it to benefit your side, you take it.
This is not a scrabble game where your sister accidentally shows you her letters, this is a fight for the very survival of our culture.
If they give us an opening, we should exploit it to the fullest extent the law allows.
Looking at something on a SHARED SERVER that some idiot DIDN'T BOTHER TO SECURE is NOT illegal.
If your in a gunfight and the guy trying to kill you drop's his gun, you gona stop and let him pick it up?

I am torn. On the one hand, privacy. On the other hand, good work.
I have a keep all sensitive client communications off the email. The democrats were stupid to trust ANY email service. Did Republicans avoid sending stuff on email? Did Republicans close the open directory for just Republican memos?
If the emails were for ELECTION party tactics, that is a violation of campaign finance laws. Aren't members restricted from even making political phone calls?
If this is their place of work and the server is unsecured and open to all, what is the crime or violation? It may be cruel (and admittedly biased) but if there is no rule there is no crime. Insider trading was not a violation until there was a rule and laws. Getting inside info where highways were going so insiders could buy land at future intersections was not illegal until recently.
Since it is all public, lets see the memos! Show me the memos!
To: Elliott Jackalope
Were republican memos equally exposed?
To: Jotmo
In other words, the end justifies the means.

Good question. I don't know, but from what I can tell I don't think so.

Yeah, I guess you're right. It's just been such an eye-opener for the general public, when these plots are exposed to the light of day... But you are right. The ends don't justify the means. Ok. Wrong is wrong. But it sure felt good, when they got slammed!

If you leave your door open, and someone comes in and steals your belongings, it is theft? Of course it is theft. Someone has taken something of yours and you no longer have it. It is gone. You do not have it any longer.
This is not what happened here. Nothing is missing. Everything that was there before the incident is still there.
All your analogies are seriously flawed. Your thinking is flawed. Try again.

Wrong again.
If you are competing with someone for anything in any kind of contest and they make a BIG mistake that you can turn to your advantage withing the predetermined rules, you are not only stupid if you don't use it to your advantage but you have an OBLIGATION to the others on your side to do your best to exploit it.
If you stumble onto someones personal information in this way, then what you say would apply. You tell them so they can secure it ASAP. It would be wrong for you to look for a way to turn that kind of thing into an advantage.
But if your in a battle and the enemy has left his battle plan open for you to look at, you don't give it back without looking at it, and making copies!
We are in a FIGHT with the leftist in this country. This is not a GAME.

The proper thing to have done would be to tell the Dems that they had left their data open to the world, and that they should do something to secure it.And I suppose you'd say the same if we found out that al-Qaeda was stupid enough to leave their data out in the open?

So where the morality in the crap they had put on the site...secure or not?
If anyone is to blame, it is the DemoRATs for writing and posting such drivel.
