The proper thing to have done would be to tell the Dems that they had left their data open to the world, and that they should do something to secure it.

And I suppose you'd say the same if we found out that al-Qaeda was stupid enough to leave their data out in the open?

The Democrats are Americans, and they are citizens of the same country as we are. Whether we agree with them or not, they are entitled to the benefits of rule of law, and furthermore we should engage them with a sense of fair play. If they choose to fight dirty then that is their choice, but that does not mean that we have to lower ourselves to that level.

Al-Queda is a terrorist organization bent on attacking us at every opportunity. We are in a state of war with them. That is a whole different ballgame, quite frankly your analogy is deeply flawed and I really can't believe you even made that argument.
