I'm sorry for that comment. But how you can say you are more concerned about the direction this country is going in NOW than when xlinton was selling the very SOUL of America, seems counter to every value I have.
And I am not alone. My values are based on my faith in Christ. My politics are secondary to my faith.
America was sliding downhill so fast under the amoral debauched xlinton that I could hardly breathe.
And now we have a President standing up for the values that we were losing, and standing strong for America abroad.........and this is WORSE to you?
It still makes NO sense. And it doesn't seem very conservative to me.

Untrue, it was a hot topic long before he began pushing his agenda.

So your key litmus test has nothing to do with Conservatism per se...
It seems we're just dancing around the issue of what "fiscal conservative" really means. That's fine. But you have to admit, the spending of this House, Senate and President is obscene. Right?

Imagine how boring FR would be, if it weren't an extremist forum but a moderate forum instead. We'd be agreeing with each other all the time, and would never argue over anything, lol.
Actually, the Bushbots would, if they had any character at all, be thanking us occasional dissenters for giving them something to talk about.
Of course, we, the Noble Minority of True Conservatives, bravely suffer their slings and arrows, quietly enduring their most scornful blows, all for the sake of preserving the finest traditions of our hallowed Republic and the sacred rights enshrined in the Bill of Rights.
No, no need to thank us. It is our privilege to serve.

The difference is that while I may believe it it has not yet been proved.
A fairly significant difference for me.

I'm a critic of Dubya's spending habits too.
But just as FDR used government spending (and WWII) to help dig the country out of the Great Depression - I believe a lot of Bush's spending has been inspired by helping the economy recover.
That doesn't make it right - but, I believe its the unstated truth.
Xlinton would've done the same thing in his 3rd term (if able).

Because I knew what I was in for and could at least prepare to counter it.
With W I no longer know what I'm in for. He goes against basic conservative beliefs almost as often as he goes with them.

and does more to divide conservatives Spare me the sanctimony. The thrashing of Pres. Bush on FR has gone way beyond "honest disagreement." We've gotten actual quotes from people who say the nation would be better off with a Democrat in the White House than another four years of George W. Bush. How sick is that?
I said I was dead serious about my earlier post (#599), and I am. I think many (not all) of the naysayers have serious emotional problems. Their inability to break themselves of the same focus and comments day after day after day after day is symtomatic of obsessive-compulsive behavior at the very least. Their "moral equivalency" viewpoint which sees absolutely no distinction between Bush and the Democrats shows a serious inability to discern differences in morality. Frankly, some of the naysayers on FR scare me. I'd never have them in my home or anywhere near my family.
Don't bother trying to embarrass me over what I've said. You only encourage me.

No, I am saying that he should have said that the decision was a bad one. That it would allow other things to be disputed that can use this as precidence. Also, that this is decision goes against the states rights to govern themselves.

Keep thinking that way because as we all know he won last time by a landslide right? So, by that rationale, voting third party we can almost guarantee a dem president. As unhappy as I am with some of Bushes proposals, the risk of Kerry, Dean or any of the other boobs attaining the Oval Office through voter agnst like yours is far too great. I will vote for W. He and the Repub party have been told in no uncertain terms there will be more money from me, until Bushes liberal alter ego goes away. And Ill bet it will when hes reelected. I just couldnt have it on my conscience that my actions led to a Dem victory in 2004.

I agree completely with your suggestions. I've repeatedly said that I have doubts about Pres. Bush's immigration proposal, but I've also said that those doubts will not deter me from enthusiastically supporting and voting for Pres. Bush this election year.
