That is an assignment of duties for a cabinet member, not an immigration law.

It was just a name I thought of ...it came out of the blue. I live in the US 8 months a year, and Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia the rest.

I'm sure right after the civil war people wondered how we'd have cotton without slaves too. That seemed to have been worked out though eventually and the farmers could work it out now too. This argument is getting very old. You are comparing apples to oranges. Cotton is not produce and there was plenty of menial laborers after the CW. Try to keep the argument in this century and I really hope your not throwing the PC card. If so I can declare victory.
Nobody can come up with a solution to picking the crops w/o cheap Mexican labor. This is the heart of this discussion and the hole in the anti-Bush argument.

Not me. It's not that they've "made up their minds." They never intended to vote for Bush and are using whatever they can to justify that stance.
I'm about done beating my head against a wall.

Mo1?? You sure are trying to put an aweful lot of words in someone's mouth. That seriously takes away from any point you were trying to make. No .. I was asking him a question to get a clear understanding of his post .. that is why I put the question mark

I am a conservative first, a Republican second! Me too. These days, however, the definition of the word "conservative" has morphed into something it didn't use to be, just like the word "tolerance" morphed into something else. Really, I think there is very little left to conserve. The m.o. of the republicans is to fight liberals on the basis of incrementalism, but the increments always seem to flow in the liberal direction. I prefer a more radical approach. For example, forget fixing the govt. school system - TAKE YOUR KIDS AND LEAVE IT! Or, instread of putting my trust in the GOP and the 2-party system, which I did for over 20 years, and watched the country become more liberal and less free, I will leave the 2-party sytem. To all Christians in the corrupt GOP, I say, "come out of her my people."
And to separate my posiition from conservatives who really aren't conservatives in their voting (like those who voted for Ahh-hold), I prefer to call myself a "Christian Constitutionalist" - so let it be written, so let it be done! hahaha

By EO he effectively dissolved the INS and gave all authority to the Dept. of homeland security.
Wasn't the INS created by congress? Just checking.

I made a general statement of truth. Let me ask you a question. What would Mr. Bush have to do before you would not vote for him?

Do you see who the Secretary of homeland security and the secretary of state report to with respect to any changes?
It sure as hell isn't congress, it's each other.

so they'll vote a fringe-not-moderate third party....I don't plan on voting a third party. However, if limited government and secure borders have finally become "fringe," then this country is screwed already -- regardless of who wins in November.

He told the UN where to go for a little while but is now starting to crawl back to them and to countries that didn't support us because he fears if he doesn't get some help, he could lose the election on this issue. What a man.
Got a real source for this alleged crawling or is this wishful thinking from Molly Ivins?

Now you're changing the subject?
ravingnutter and I both pointed out to you that what you claim to be proof that Bush can change immigration law by EO is, in fact, not proof of that at all.
And so you change the parameters of the discussion.
To: MEG33
Actually, I tried the name international traveler, but it was taken...shows you how many people post here:)

I thought that was done by the "Homeland Security Act of 2002"

You're just showing more and more of your ignorance with regard to how a government is run.
