Never mind that he (in effect) gave aid and comfort to the enemy in a time of war, or that he has been pushing an unconstitutional agenda for 30 years. That's what they (the major media) want too.

I wish the media would just stay out of the business of forming opinion and be objective. If they had had their way a looney toon would have inherited the Patriot Act and an arsenal of nuclear weapons.

The Viet Nam time was complex. Kerry served...we all know that until the draft got a numbered system Yalies didn't have to do that, and Kerry is old enough to not have to have worried about that. So, back then he did something brave.

It's complex. But you know what? I'm not going to question the service or reactions of anyone who actually spent time in a war zone.

I didn't like dissing McCain's service and POW time, either, for the record. If nothing else, it's not helpful in giving the military the respect it needs to remain the fine volunteer orgainization it is, where our very best will risk their lives so a bunch of spoiled brats can party on.

(Kind of like Dean in Aspen)

Then I guess by your standards condemning Benedict Arnold is out of the question. Arnold too was a decorated American Soldier. Decorated for bravery under fire. He was credited with saving the day in a fierce fight with the enemy. As a result Arnold was personally decorated and promoted by General George Washington.. That was of course before Arnold changed sides.

Will you post that Benedict Arnold should not be judged? Or is being a traitor OK as long as you serve and get decorated first.

His record of service is not in question...neither is his record after his service.

I have no problem pointing to both...the fact that he honorably served...and the fact that he dishonored that service when he got home and allowed those actions of dishonor to propel him into political office.

Them's the facts.

John F'n Kerry was pandering scum in 1970, it has been my contention for many years that the only reason he served rather than head North was that he wanted to be a pol.

As cibco pointed out in another thread he got the SS for actions, that in any grunt company was an every day occurrence, I don't know the details but I do know that the SS wasn't given away even in 1970 but then again the other Kerrey got the Blue Max under circumstances that were not quite clear.

As to his Purple Hearts, I had guys in my squad with double the number, but then again they were Enlisted Scum, and didn't get a ride on three.
