I remember going to Cat Balou when it first came out (1965). Some older neighbor kids took me (I was 6 years old). All I can say is, WOW. Big silver screen cleavage, even if it was Jane Fonda's. Stayed for a second showing -- sat in the front row. Found it very educational and certainly appropriate for this 6 year old.

Spirited Away is a great movie, as are "Castle in the Sky", Kiki's Delivery Service" and "Princess Mononoko". Some of these are available for rent. I wound up buying them, and I don't have any young kids. They are all better than most Disney animated flicks. (All have been released by Disney with good English soundtracks.)

Go to www.songofthesouth.com and you can purchase it there.

It is one of the hottest selling movies in Asia and Europe.

Disney will not sell it in the USA because they say it is racist. Hog Wash!!!!

Chitty Chitty Bang Bang is such a great movie with a number of life lessons built into it. I believe the director also did some of the Bond movies?

How can anyone say that The Bad News Bears is not a kid's movie? I saw it when I was about 8 years old and loved it. I agree some of the others on the list are not kid's movies, but I'd say Bad News Bears definitely is.

Remember the Titans is great for kids, especially boys. No curse words, I kept waiting for them to say the "N" word (considering the subject metter), but this is one movie that handled a sensitive subject very well. My boy loves it.

Searching for Bobby Fischer is one of the most poetic movies I have ever seen, I use it to teach my children about the two sides of life that you must master to be the best at any endeavor: art and science.

"Harvey" and "Arsenic and Old Lace" are not exactly kids' movies, but would be more suitable for children than many of those listed. They omit "An American Tale" (animated movie by Steven Spielberg) and the classic "Bambi Meets Godzilla."

Yes! Yes! Yes!
And the fun thing is getting the Ghibli collection on E-bay and having them all in Japanese so my girls have to read the subtitles. It's a homeschool lesson all on it's own.

Just purchased the Manga of "Castle in the Sky" on Amazon. It will get my girls reading what they know!
(thanks for the ping 4my!)
