I'll be mailing a copy of this editorial into RNC headquaters instead of a check for their membership drive.
Exactly. Washington DC doesn't work like Austin. There's a lot more money and the corruption that goes with it. Plus, state government is much closer to the people that it represents.
Good point ... in between binges, you did something worthwhile.
Congress is on a neverending binge.
I'm glad to have Bush, rather than Gore, but I am getting alarmed at just how freely he seems to spend money. Whatever happened to "the government that governs least governs best"?
That concept was lost somewhere in the 20th century.
The more I hear coming out of Washington, from both sides, the more I think the two major parties will become harder to tell apart over the next decade. They are both trying to appeal to some of the same groups.
As soon as most politicians get elected and head off to Washington, their #1 priority becomes the next election. They will throw away campaign promises, ideologies, etc. in order to get elected again.
It's the sad truth. The only chance of somebody getting into office that believes in less government is a third party candidate that manages to survive the two major parties. I don't see that happening, both major parties will do everything they can to rip the 3rd party apart.
