[history]
Even Bill Clinton and a Democratic Congress didn't spend like this.
In tonight's State of the Union address, President Bush can claim credit for a rebounding economy spurred by two rounds of tax cuts. He can take further credit for pushing those cuts despite opposition from the deficit hand-wringers--including, we now know, his first Treasury Secretary.

What difficult times we are in. We are faced with voting, on one hand, for a man who does have the courage and conviction to take the fight to an enemy who would come to our shores with intent to kill us all, but who on the other hand SADLY is putting into place programs (or growth of programs) that will sometime in the near future assure an ecomonic meltdown.
And economic meltdown will end the American experience.....we die now, or we die later.
Our votes are putting-our-fingers-in-the-dyke votes.....with a democrat the dyke would be BLOWN up...with Candy Man George, the dyke will eventually collaspe from the pressures upon it....and the flood will be great.

I am a conservative, not a dem or a pub. Pubs here do not want to hear from conservatives, they just want our votes. Yes, cyni, you have that right.
What is the difference between Blacks on the Dem plantation, and conservatives on the Repub?

As a former drunken sailor I resent being compared to congress.I regret to inform you that an admission like this could form the basis of a denial of a right to self-defense.

President Bush can help shore up his conservative base and appeal to many moderate voters by exercising his very first veto here.
A veto of this all-you-can-grab porkfest would certainly help his re-election prospects. Don't believe everything you read about 91% support from conservatives, many will stay home if Bush continues to lead this fiscally irresponsible spending binge.

When the MASTHEAD in the WALL STREET JOURNAL is cussing out the Republicans in general --and Dubya in particular -- it is time to sit up and take notice, people.
Good Luck. Blackbird.

Haha. Great article title. It's true - Bush and the congressional republicans are spending our money like a bunch of drunken sailors.

I am tired of the whining and sniveling by pubs that if the ignorant conservatives do not vote for their man, we will get a nasty democrat. Other than war on terror, I voted for Bush and got a huge increase in government size and spending. Somewhere along the line three quarters of my vote got in the wrong bin.
I wonder if this year I could just vote 1/4 for Bush and withhold the other 3/4????

Anyone that voted republican expecting smaller government needs a reality check. A professional politician has one thing in mind, "RE ELECTION". These lifetime politicians perpetuate their job via the U.S. Treasury.Amen to that.

Anyone that voted republican expecting smaller government needs a reality check. A professional politician has one thing in mind, "RE ELECTION". These lifetime politicians perpetuate their job via the U.S. Treasury. According to the article, the real annual rate of spending decreased under Reagan and increased by about 2% annually under Clinton, yet they were reelected. How is it we need a reality check to hope that Bush keeps spending in check as much as Clinton did with a Democrat Congress?
To: Texas Federalist
Clinton had a surplus, remember? I don't think pub congress and prez gonna do that. Drunken sailors they are.
