WOW!
I was there in Feb 69 when the New Jersey was stationed there.
My ship was the USS CORRY DD 817
Our 5" 38 cal guns were quite overwhemlmed by the USS NEW JERSEY 16" guns.
We were sitting along side her when she 1st opened up.
I'm pinging FReeper onedoug who was in the Army back then.

There are a few things I've wanted to experience in my lifetime:
The feeling of large-caliber guns being fired
SR-71 Blackbird take off
F-4 Phantom II take off
B-52 flying low overhead

Today's modern military seems to have taken the fun out of most of these, but I did have the chance to see the Germans take off in their F-4's (they were stopping over at Langley before heading out west to Hollaman AFB). I think I joined the service too late. The rest I'm still waiting for.

Thanks Guys!

I think the New Jersey provided fire support for Marine units on the Batangan Peninsula during Operation Bold Mariner.

Great Guns! Literally.

Everything good, always.
