The commission investigating the September 11 attacks needs more time to complete its work, say several of its members and a group representing relatives of those who were killed.
A deadline for the commission's report should be pushed back until the end of the year to take it out of the November election battle, members said.

Hopefully Gorton's view will prevail. The Democrats and the media would both love to see the report come out just before the election. It doesn't matter what is in the report. What matters is the timing, so that something in the report, no matter how innocuous, can be spun by the Democrats and the media, whose interests (as so often) coincide here.
