"Tonight, I also ask you to reform our immigration laws so they reflect our values and benefit our economy. I propose a new temporary worker program to match willing foreign workers with willing employers when no Americans can be found to fill the job. This reform will be good for our economy because employers will find needed workers in an honest and orderly system. A temporary worker program will help protect our homeland, allowing Border Patrol and law enforcement to focus on true threats to our national security.

I oppose amnesty, because it would encourage further illegal immigration, and unfairly reward those who break our laws. My temporary worker program will preserve the citizenship path for those who respect the law, while bringing millions of hardworking men and women out from the shadows of American life."

If Americans are good enough to defend you they are good enough to work for you

I've hired four others in the last couple of years that are veterans, one of which is still active reserve who gets deployed in February.

I am a veteran too, and I am also actively supporting deployed troops with my time and a lot of my money. Forgive me if I don't feel like listening to patriotism lessons. Good night.

Hopefully we can add reinforce the borders to immigration reform. REAL REINFORCEMENT.

Mr. Fox gets his worker program and we can tell him to sit down and shut up as we build our concrete fence.

BTW the Democrat response was more of the "support the troops but not the mission" BS.

The democrat party only knows one trick and its a bad one.

You all have to admit that this part was funny:

"Key provisions of the Patriot Act are set to expire next year. (Applause.)

I don't think anyone expected that.

Those photos of his face show possible liver damage. Any doctors here that could confirm this?

Are you referring to Kennedy?

Bush's proposal is a blanket amnesty for the 8-12 million ILLEGALS who are here.

I don't care for Bush's proposal as it stands and I know it's just the beginning of the debate.

But you are 100% wrong, it's not a blanket amnesty (a general pardon for offenses against a government). It's a guest worker program already in place designed to indentify and document those here that want to work. Many industries bring them in LEGALLY already to work like at the Opryland Hotel in Nashville.

Now Reagan gave them a blanket amnesty and them promised to enforce the borders but didn't. So I don't want that either.

But if Bush's proposal recognizes those here to work, get's them working papers over the 6-9 year period and forces them to go through the proper channels to become legal AND, this time, actually enforce the I-9 form and newer electronic databases and punish the offending businesses, then it will help. And after 3 years, illegals that don't go through the program should be deported.

But it also needs to be done hand and hand with FORCING Mexico to reform it's corrupt government system and allowing US companies to invest and own property that will create jobs in Mexico, among many other ideas.

It's something we can't just sweep under the rug any longer. But you, like so many, got your knees jerking so hard you could probably win a soccer match single handidly. You seem to hate debate and just throw names at anyone that doesn't totally agree with you. That's sad.

Go educate yourself on this issue then get back to us.

I'm quite educated on the issue. Obviously, far more than are you.

Amnesty
( P )n. pl. am·nes·ties A general pardon granted by a government, especially for political offenses.

tr.v. am·nes·tied, am·nes·ty·ing, am·nes·ties To grant a general pardon to.

It is a general pardon for the offense of entering this country ILLEGALLY. That's general, as in not applying to an individual.

Feel like an idiot yet? You should.

Thank you for reminding me of our need to pray for this country and our President.

This forum has become such a hostile place for our President and it makes me sad as well angry that this negative, angry rhetoric is allowed to keep undermining our morale...

That's where we're at this year. You and your daughter are making fun of them, and there are millions of Americans who are being MOTIVATED by these ghouls.

This next 9 months is going to be the unbelievable in terms of ugliness. THANK GOD that this is not 1992 or 1996 ... when the alphabet networks, CNN and the NY Times, Washington Post and AP owned the information infrastructure.

I don't listen to Matt Drudge every Sunday night, but that guy will go down in history as a pioneer somewhere in the shadow of Gutenberg. He opened Pandora's Box of new media, God bless him. I'd buy him a drink, just for putting up with the Clinton/Sidney Blumenthal personal assault.
