Future Government Mandates Abortion *** VANITY ***

I am about to anger some of my fellow Republicans and conservatives. It is not my intention to argue my position here, but merely to explain it, on the topic of abortion.

There can be little argument that human life begins at the moment of conception. I think even the most ardent abortion rights advocates will concede that in private.

Every human life is sacred, a gift from Heaven. No man has the right to take another man's life, under any circumstances. To do so would be an affront to the Creator, and no man has the knowledge base to question the work of God. It is on that belief that I base my opposition to the death penalty in criminal cases.

But we are Human, and humans constitute our governments. We make laws that men must live by, but not all those laws reflect the Law of God, because not all men respect the Law of God.

In America, our government derives it's Powers from the People, from we fallible humans. We have witnessed the corruption that results when those who do not respect the Law of God are given Power to govern over us. The clearly defined Powers we give our government can be and have been twisted and perverted, used against us to suit the means of those wielding those Powers.

Because of that potential for such corruption, I am unwilling to grant my government the Power to control the human reproductive process. A government with the legal Power to tell a woman she cannot abort her unborn child will also one day use that Power to tell a woman she must abort her unborn child.

The government will justify it's actions by saying it's for reasons such as controlling overpopulation or because tests have determined that the child will be born with health problems, which will cause an excessive financial burden to society, or other such reasons.

I cannot willingly grant my government that Power.

I would rather the choice to keep her child and give it life be made through reasoned persuasion and respect for God's Laws, not man's.

Don't flatter yourself. I fell asleep about 1/3 of the way through your post.

Then why did you post this?

No man has the right to take another man's life, under any circumstances.

Not even God agrees with you there.

You believe abortion is taking a life? If yes, the argument should end.

A government with the legal Power to tell a woman she cannot abort her unborn child will also one day use that Power to tell a woman she must abort her unborn child.

This make perfect sense...

Just like...

A government with the legal Power to tell a woman she "cannot murder her 3 year old child" will also one day use that Power to tell a woman she must "murder her 3 year old child"
A government with the legal Power to tell a woman she "cannot rob a bank" will also one day use that Power to tell a woman she must "rob a bank"
A government with the legal Power to tell a woman she "cannot fly a plane into the world trade center" will also one day use that Power to tell a woman she must "fly a plane into the world trade center."

When you tell people what you believe and why you believe it RE: abortion, leave off the 'republican/conservative' part. Much appreciated.

From the looks of things, it doesn't appear that you thought your position through. By your logic (sic), the same government that has the legal power to tell men that they cannot forcibly rape women and children will also one day be the same power that will tell men that they must forcibly rape women and children.

Bzzt. Better luck next time.

So you're saying that you oppose the death penalty but favor abortion. I hate to break it to you, but that makes you a liberal.

I cannot willingly grant my government that Power.

Considering that the aggregate result of people having babies will have a substantial effect on interstate commerce, you don't have to grant them that power. Someone else already did it for you.

A very reasonable position. And forced child-bearing did indeed occur in Communist Romania, when the government realized that people were choosing not to produce enough babies to feed the government's appetite for soldiers and factory workers.

Human life is sacred. Human life begins at conception. Human life ends at death. For this reason, I am anti-abortion.

I am also against the death penalty because I beleive that there is a chance that even the worst of criminals can have a chance to redeem their souls. I don't want to be the one responsible for taking away that chance, and therefore I cannot charge someone else with that responsibility.

Any government that forbids a woman to poison her husband also has the power to FORCE a woman to poison her husband. Therefore, there should be NO LAW forbidding wives to poison their husbands.

This is your stupid argument in a nutshell.

"You believe abortion is taking a life?"

I can't think of any reason to abort something that is dead or inanimate.

Liberals, on the other hand, have a thousand idiotic reasons for doing so.

I also recall in not too distant history where governments did force women to have abortions, where governments did kill women who chose not to have an abortion.

Didn't that happen in Germany circa 1939? Iran 1979? Iraq 2002?

That "future" can begin as early as next year.

The dems know how important this election is and they will do everything they can to recover the White House and Congress...and this time they will make abortion legal for many years to come.

Actually Libertarian. I'd rather prevent abortion not under the heavy hand of government, but by the gentle touch of the human heart.
