Girl killed in park stunt
A 16-year-old Marysville girl died in a city park Saturday as she duplicated a movie stunt that involved a merry-go-round.
The victim, whose name was not released, died in S.J. Field Park on Rideout Way before 6 p.m., after she flew off a merry-go-round and hit her head on the street pavement, according to the Marysville Police Department.
According to witnesses, seven teenagers attached a rope to a truck and wrapped it around a merry-go-round, then watched it spin as the truck pulled the rope away from the ride. The stunt was previously performed in "Jackass: The Movie."

24 yards is pretty good. Assuming a weight of 120 for the victim, I'd love to see somebody do the math on what the rotational speed of that thing was.

Boy oh boy but that reincarnation stuff has a quick turn-around time. I guess she's ready for another ride. Next time she'll come back as a salad bar.

I never thought I'd live to see the day when you'd have to put a governor on a merry-go-round. Maybe a hydraulic clutch would work.

Were the adults that produce programs like Jackass irresponsible? Yes. I would hate a president blame 'Wage the Dog" for an act of aggression. This is the logic you use.
I hope more sense in people but I guess I am wrong.
I believe in doing what you want but only if you understand the results that can occur. Therefore you can get into trouble. In like driving a car, sure you can drive 100+ mph but you have a chance of killing yourself and others.
I believe in the death penalty for any crime that kills another.

I think a lot of people are missing the real point...No, I'm not. If you ever watched shows like Jackass you may understand. These morons doing these stunts, like sitting in a shopping cart and have two of their stage hands push them into curbs, while the camera watchs the dummy in the cart skid across the pavement teeth and face first, is just completely irrisponsible.
They know damn well some dumb 15 years olds are going to mimic this sh*t. It happens all the time. There is no need to broadcast this bullsh*t.
Show like that have nothing to offer but stupidity, and pending tragedy.

Can I pick the governor? Im thinking Pataki or Richardson.
Pataki would definitely fly farther than Richardson.

At what point do we start labeling these suicide? Or a "Stupidence"? (1/2 stupidity, 1/2 unexpected consequences)

Forget sarcasm, you are dead on. There will be a suit against the park for inadequate security around the ride. Attractive nuisance doctrine. Same way owners of swimming pools can be sued if a kid climbs in and drowns, even though the kid was trespassing at the time.

Richardson might leave a divot when he lands.

You've inspired me!
I've always thought that the key to unlimited, safe, ecological power was to harness to power of stupidity. We could just attach generators to merry go rounds!

The girl died for doing a stupid thing. I do not look down on her: I have done stupid things and by Divine Providence was allowed to live.
She took a chance and she died; for which I am sorry.
I have no sympathy for MTV, however. May they be sued for millions over this and many other things.
MTV is perhaps the single, most destructive force in our country.

Pataki would definitely fly farther than Richardson. But think of the crater Bill would leave!

You say you want a revolution?
Well you know, we all want to change the world
You tell me that it's evolution?
Well you know, we all want to change the world
