The fruit of righteousness is sown in peace by those who make peace. —James 3:18

O Prince of Peace, keep us, we pray,
From strife and enmity;
Help us to speak with loving words
That calm hostility

The best peacemakers are those who know the peace of God.

In memory of my fellow Vietnam helicopter pilots who were killed in that war the following pilot was lost on JAN 19. God bless them all.

1971 CPT Wilbur D. Latimer (USAR) -- C/2/17 CAV, Age 26, Married, Searcy, Arkansas

This memorial from CPT Latimer's uncle is taken from "The Wall" website:

''NOT A DAY GOES BY THAT MY THOUGHTS AREN'T WITH WILL, I AM THE ONLY LIVING LATIMER THATS LIVING, AND I AM 76. GOD BLESS YOU WILL. WILL WAS PART OF THE BOOK ''FIREBIRDS'' BY CHUCK CARLOCK.
Thursday, May 25, 2000

The following information is from the Vietnam Helicopter Pilot's Association Online Museum wesite concerning CPT Latimers aircraft. The VHPA Online Museum is a particularly interesting website for anyone interested in the history of the helicopter in the Vietnam War.

Update on 67-16161 previously posted. OH-6 67-16161 as it appeared late Sept.'71 and as it is today. The two lower pictures are the most recent & current as of this writing, May 1, 2002. This is the aircraft in which Cpt. Wilbur Latimer was KIA 71Jan19 while serving with C troop, 2/17th Cav based in Phu Bai. The top photo was taken later that year, shortly after Typhoon Agnes/Supertyphoon Bess (Sept.18-21) struck, which accounts for damage to hangar roof in background. The aircraft is seen delivering a passenger to the 2/17th flight line at Camp Eagle.

SCOUTS OUT!

Good afternoon, Mr. Mayor, thanks for opening the doors, and sharing the Word.

Good morning and hello to all the Finest.

I wake up to a California dreamin' Monday Monday, the sky is gray, the pave is wet and shiney from a light and refreshing rain....makes me lazy.

Thank you, LadyX, for the majestic mountains which greet me...so beautiful...)))

Hmmm...if'n I remember right, today is the Iowa raucus ruckus caucus...wonder if John Effing Kerry, who served in Vietnam, will win , place or show.

Don't matter...it's been such a joy watching Coward Dean's head explode the past couple of weeks...and, whichever miscreant dwarf gets the nod, Marshall Dubya will toss his sorry butt out the swinging doors of Long Branch Saloon this November.

May the loving Almighty God bless and protect our troops, our President, our Nation, and all the Finest.

Wishing you all a very good day.

Thanks for bringing us Military Monday, Mayor, and for that exchange Between Senators John Glenn and Sen. Howard Metzenbaum. I have it copied into an e-mail to send out to friends and family.

Ladtx, you have every reason to be proud of your son, we are proud of him too! What a wonderful homecoming this will be!

LadyX, thank you for these wonderful images and articles you are posting today.

Don't know if anyone else had planned to post the military prayer today, but I made this graphic a while back and have updated it to include all those who have requested prayers for their loved ones. I will go ahead and post it because I think it ties in well with today's thread.

A warm hug for all of our FRiends in the great frozen north.

Good Monday morning to you all!

Lord Jesus, Savior of the World and King of Peace, watch over our sons and daughters in the service of their country. Keep them close to You, and give them courage to serve their country with honor and dignity. Be with them when they are in danger; strengthen them when they face hardships. Above all Lord, grant that when their service is finished they may return to us, sound in mind, body and soul. And Lord, for those who give the ultimate sacrifice with their lives for serving our country, please touch and minister grace and healing to their families. Amen

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Below are names of some of our FReepers' loved ones who are serving our country. If you have someone you would like to add, please address a post to Billie; Mama_Bear; Dansangel; Dutchess, Aquamarine or deadhead and we will add their name to this list. As we pray for them, we pray also for all our nation’s leaders, and military personnel, and their families and friends. May God hold them close to His heart.
LadyX, wonderful posts and pics you've posted! Thank you!
Thank you, ladtx, for reminding us to remember those lost in VietNam, and their families.
Lori, thanks for posting the Military Prayer today. Aqua did it last Monday - love how everyone works together to make it a really nice place to gather.
FREEDOM
Freedom is a breath of air,
Pine-scented, or salty like the sea;
Freedom is a field new-plowed...
Furrows of democracy!
Freedom is a forest,
Trees tall and straight as men.
Freedom is a printing press...
The power of the pen!
Freedom is a country church,
A cathedral's stately spire;
Freedom is a spirit
That can set the soul on fire!
Freedom is man's birthright,
A sacred, living rampart;
The pulse beat of humanity...
The throb of a nation's heart!
Good Night everyone and God Bless our Troops. Fox news ran a story tonight about the Blue Star Mothers challenging Global Exchange concerning peace missions to Iraq. These missions involve taking family members of our military and Veterans. You can guess which groups Media Benjamin takes to Iraq.
The California Mom did an excellent job stating that they have a political agenda that actually hurts troop moral.
