Somewhere out there, is a poor soul that was turned down for a date in High School by Rosie.
Talk about double schadenfreude-glee!

In a movie with some substance, plot, character development, etc, non fantastic story- then then age and looks matters insofar as they atre appropriate to the story and the characters. Movies like that are pretty much nonexistent these days. If the movie is basically fluff then there is no excuse for nonbeautiful nonyoung actresses because the picture is the whole value of the movie.

It's funny how male actors keep making movies from their tough guy state all the way to their old geezer stage yet women are only employed for their skin. What's really funny is a bunch of 40 yearold women that think they are going to change that.

Kate Hepburn, Angela Landsbury, Patricia Neal, Faye Dunaway, Jessica Tandy, Good actresses over 40 tend to attract good roles for women over 40.

In any other profession, she says, "your work would get better the older you got". Sports?
Anyway, they have a legitimate point. But I think it's ironic that they're trying to "impose their views on others." I wonder how many of them are pro-abortion.

I agree 100%.

Samantha Mathis, 33, agrees. "It's the revenge of the nerds syndrome, all these guys couldn't get a girlfriend in high school. They are smart but they have no social skills; suddenly they are running studios in a position of power." Interesting. Maybe this also says something about how attractive young women choose their dates in high school - for looks and/or prestige rather than for (nerdy)intelligence.

Actually, the Teri Garr Star Trek episode was the second season. And that was Robert Lansing (4D Man, Empire of the Ants), not James Coburn.
What a pathetic geek I am!

Hollywood's most formidable female stars have united to condemn "sexist" film moguls for failing to find roles for women over 40. Get a real job and work like everybody else.
These stupid bitches are rich beyond most people's wildest dreams anyway, so why do they feel the need to work?
I suppose it must give them some feeling of importance.
God forbid you just can't accept the inevitable fact that you're getting older, uglier, and nobody wants you anymore.
Get over it...like the rest of us "little people" have to do.

I can say it (shadenfrauden) but I don't remember what it means. Dang I hate when that happens!Taking pleasure in the discomfort of others, I think (but, I could be wrong...).

Yes --- it's just the young bimbo roles that are not available for those women under 40 --- which is too bad for those whose careers depended on getting naked for the camera and playing those bimbo roles. The actresses which could keep their clothes on while younger are the ones who are still acting while older.

if he wasn't married she'd be all over him "like white on rice." Or vice versa. But anyway, she's only about 10 years younger than Clinton. Monica Lewinsky is almost 30 years younger and was only 21 when the "relationship" started.

Catherine Danueve and Bo Derek are both over 40 and still look great.
To: Paleo Conservative
But these same lefty actresses weren't offended when a 50ish Bill Clinton, "did not have sex with that woman, Monica Lewinsky." when she was 21. Rather hypocritical don't you think! Of course. Obviously some (most, apparently) of these actresses are ditzes who don't see how silly their shifting standards are. All it would take was to substitue a Republican for Clinton and the treatment of Lewinsky (taking advantage, her age, giving her job perks) would be seen for the outrageous conduct it really was. But since it was "their guy" (spit) they looked the other way. Yes, they are stoopid (misspelling on purpose).
