Victim: They attacked like 'pack of wild wolves in search of their prey'
Four illegal aliens were among the five men who brutally gang-raped a New York City woman.
The woman described her ordeal in a scathing letter to state Supreme Court Justice Randall Eng, saying the men carried out their attack like "a pack of wild wolves in search of their prey."
"They punched me so hard that I was knocked to the floor," the 43-year-old victim wrote before Eng sentenced one of her attackers Thursday, Victor Cruz, to 21 years in prison, the New York Post reported.
"They savagely dragged me like an animal, like a piece of furniture, and took me to a secluded area of the park, a hut, a foul place that smelled so bad that not even animals should be made to be there, where I was brutally and repeatedly raped by five or more men," she said of the Dec. 19, 2002 attack.
The New York paper said Cruz, Luis Carmona, Carlos Rodriguez, Armando Juvenal and José Hernandez pleaded guilty in December to rape and kidnapping charges in exchange for sentences of 20 to 23 years.
"This is a crime that can only be described as one of blood-chilling inhumanity," Eng told Cruz, 22, who apologized to the woman, according to the Post.
All of the attackers, except Carmona, were in the United States illegally, the New York daily said, which prompted criticism from groups who charge the Immigration and Naturalization Service consistently fails to deport dangerous illegals.
The victim, a mother of two, said she is afraid to go out, has nightmares and is unable to sleep.
"I feel depressed and sad most of the time, and cannot even perform simple activities a lot of times," she wrote.
The attack took place in Queens at 9:30 p.m. on a walkway connecting the National Tennis Center to Shea Stadium.
According to the New York Daily News, she was sitting on a bench with her boyfriend after a dinner date when suddenly they were surrounded by about nine men who "acted like a pack of wild wolves," grabbing her while they punched and kicked her 37-year-old boyfriend.
She was dragged to a shantytown along the Long Island Rail Road tracks where at least three of the men lived and was sexually tortured for three hours before being rescued by police, the Daily News said.
Juvenal, Carmona and Rodriguez are to be sentenced next Thursday. Hernandez will undergo a psychiatric exam and be sentenced next month.
The victim is suing the city and the Metropolitan Transit Authority for $50 million.
In a brief statement, Cruz apologized for the attack.
"I hope she will one day be able to overcome this nightmare," he said.

Does this mean they won't be convicted? All they need is some legal firepower to explain they were only doing what they had come over the border to do, that all the proceeds from the day job were being sent back to Mexico to support their families there.
And even if he may be an illegal alien, a man's got needs, ya know.

Usually, I'm not much of a lawsuit fan, but when the lawsuit is against state bureaucracies, I say "Go get 'em!"

What's her beef? How does the MTA have negligence here? I was sympathizing with her up until the end. She is getting the justice she deserves. But the money grab leaves me cold.
To: The Westerner
The rapists were living in a shack they built on MTA property. It was not an
invisible shack, it was right next to the train tracks, and should have been cleared away after its residents were evicted. Without the shack to conceal her in, her ordeal would not have lasted three hours.
And without policies in place that prevent city and state employees from calling the INS on anyone, even recently-released felons like these illegals were, her ordeal would not have taken place at all.
So you see, she's not getting the justice she deserves. The people who decided illegal aliens were more important than she was, haven't paid yet. And they should pay til it hurts.
When the government stops representing its citizens, it's time to bankrupt the f*****...starve it on one end and sue it into oblivion on the other. Then maybe they'll get the message.

while we're digging up landmines in Afghanistan I suggest we "recycle" them by putting them along the southern border.....

With the multiple post about Michael Jackson, and the Scott Peterson endless threads, I think two or three posts about this brutal event wont hurt anyone.
Besides this thread offers additional information.

If I were her lawyer, I would have her sue the INS for another $50 million. To send them, and President Bush (much as I love him, this amnesty is absurd), a message they'll never forget.I would contrbute to her legal team, but I don't think they're going to need much help.

The trouble is that the taxpayer pays while Doris Meisner and dufus Ziglar collect fat fees for retelling their anti-American immigration feats to leftist dork college students.

If I were her lawyer, I would have her sue the INS for another $50 million. Well, to be FAIR, the INS were not informed that there were four felon illegals about to be released from prison, who needed deportin', and one felon with a green card who needed to be stripped of his residency and deported.
But, what the heck. Let 'em explain that to a jury.
To: putupon
Oddly enough, prior to about 100 years ago, there was no such thing as an "illegal alien."
