Wesley Clark Argues That His Stance On Iraq Has Been Consistent -- Most Tuesdays

Spokespeople for General Wesley Clark lashed out against both Republicans and some fellow Democrats who say he has waffled on Iraq. Their candidate, they say, has not wavered one bit on the issue -- most Tuesdays.

"Gen. Clark was a steady and outspoken critic of what he saw as an unjustifiable war against another nation," maintained James Rubin, Clark's chief foreign policy advisor.

"Except for last Tuesday… and the third Tuesday in December… and another Tuesday back in October…" he went on to explain.

Surprisingly, in a rare episode of goodwill on the Democratic campaign trail, Clark's rivals decided not to seize on his apparent inconsistency on the Iraq issue.

"This campaign is not about who supported the war in Iraq and who did not," said Senator John Kerry. "This campaign is about who's got the best hair."

Is it just me, or do others always think of General Jack D. Ripper from "Dr. Strangelove" when they see Clark? Only thing is, I think General Ripper was more sound of mind.

Any day now I expect Clark to start talking about "our precious bodily fluids".

So, Tuesday is not a good day for Clark. May it be ever thus.
