Sounds like it to me. We've had a few sleepers come out lately; must be the election year that brings them out from underground.

If you've got a substantive complaint...try Freepmail to Jim Robinson.
Speaking just for me... seeing a thread go to around 12,000 posts is kind of
the Internet equivalent of seeing a new volcano grow out a lake next door.

Check out the latest national radar - it looks like the blob is shaped like a bull or something - heading right for the Nations Captitol.

As to the thread 'Al Qaeda again threatens New York, Washington and Los Angeles' -- it is an ongoing thread that has lots of useful info. I would be very interested in knowing what use you actually made of any information on that thread. I found it totally useless. Interesting, but useless.

Opine ping.

guess you didn't notice the space shuttle disaster thread, it went on for a while then was mentioned in the national news because every second of it was documented

I haven't read all 10,000+ posts, but during the 'orange' days I found some 'useful' stuff there about the meanings of the differences invarious levels to LEOs, some of the specifics of the threats. As with any thread that gets much beyond a few hundred posts, the S/N ratio is pretty high.

There are a significant number of noise makers hereon who seem to think that all the other posters on FR should conform to their constructions on reality and their tastes in posts. Otherwise, they'll wail to low heaven, writhe in the floor and kick and scream.

"(a drinking problem perhaps?):
That explains it...he must have tried to drink himself through the 11,000+ posts and then looked at the radar map in chat.
