Paris won't release terrorist

PARIS A special French court on Friday refused to release a Lebanese man serving a life sentence for his role in the murders of a U.S. military attaché and an Israeli diplomat in 1982.

The Paris court, which rules on parole requests, overturned a lower court's ruling to free the man, Georges Ibrahim Abdallah.

Abdallah, of the Lebanese Armed Revolutionary Factions, or FARL, was convicted in 1987 for complicity in the killings of Charles Ray, deputy military attaché at the U.S. Embassy in Paris, and Yacov Barsimentov, second secretary at the Israeli Embassy, as well as the attempted murder of the U.S. consul-General, Robert Homme, in 1984.

FARL claimed responsibility for a wave of Paris bombings in 1986 that killed 15 people, carried out to pressure France to free Abdallah. In November, a court in Pau, southwest France, ruled in favor of freeing Abdallah. The Justice Ministry asked prosecutors to appeal, and the case went before the parole court in Paris, which did not immediately release the reasons for its ruling.

You know what? Someday, when France is hit by terrorism in a fashion like Israel or the U.S.A., I hope the public there wakes up and changes their anti-American, anti-Semitic, terror-coddling attitudes.

Known terrorists were often given safe passage through France under the moral-coward assumption that they can then go and knife and shoot and bomb in other countries. Guess this fellow didn't get that message.

"We Franch piss on you Americans!"

I understand the prison where the French hold their lifers has had trouble retaining staff and the desired ratio of one master chef for every five "guests" has been difficult to maintain. However, since the tourist business has fallen way off, the quality/number of French hookers at the lifers facility has picked up. Actually, they want to keep these standards very, very high because it is expected that Chirac will become a "guest" in the near future and he has used his influence to try to make his visit civilized.

I understand your dislike of France but what does that have to do with this piece.

As I read it, a lower court paroled a terrorists and a special court overturned the release. He will still be in prison.

Isn't that a good outcome? Could that not be considered a ruling favorable to American interests?

That is precisely why we must never, never, never trust the French.

I agree the French are usually disappointing but it looks like they did the right thing here.

So, you would prefer that the Paris court let the terrorist loose?

I'd rather they just hand him over to us.

Are we even requesting him?

Wish we could declare war on France.

Before our lifetimes are over, you will see this happen.

While this may be true, Messr. Creel is absolutely correct to cuss France out.

It's never a bad time to hate France.
