If I am right, this would be ripe for a brand-new ruling from the chair, to CREATE a new precedent for the future that such reappointment votes cannot be filibustered.

Careful what you wish for. Just keep in mind that such a precedent would then be in place for any recess appointments that they make in the future as well.

I know, but perhaps it is time for this to happen. After all, confirmation would still require a majority vote. And after all, someday the republicans will get too big for their britches and need to be cut down to size.
