Democrats running for president often target the nation's new education reform law that demands higher school standards. Former Vermont governor Howard Dean calls the law "mindless." Rep. Richard Gephardt of Missouri says it's an excuse to push private-school vouchers. Sen. John Edwards of North Carolina complains that President Bush has ruined his own law by failing to fund it adequately.

God forbid that we actually hold schools and teachers accountable for what they're teaching our kids.

An NEA document summarizing the research states: "Once our opponents have an opportunity to provide voters with their descriptions of the content of the law, swaying them becomes increasingly difficult."

AAAAAAAAAAAAAH THE LIGHT!!!!
Seriously, Groups like the NEA do not want parental involvement. It is their biggest obstruction to indoctrination of children and job security for them. Parents will complain about bad teachers.
If enough parents complain, they get outraged at the process of removing a teacher.
If public education is to ever recover, (in 50 years), the NEA and AFT must be broken.

You know there is a problem when the NEA complains about the results of educating voters to the contents of the law.
