But only if you ignore all the other issues GW Bush is super conservative on.

Yes! I was going to say--and am by this--that there should certainly be room for moderates; but there also needs to be room for Conservatives. The party inside the Beltway is virtually totally moderate and liberal. With the departure of Jesse Helms and Strom Thurmond, who in the Senate is really Conservative? There are still a few in the House, but the Senate? Even those who seemed Conservative when Jesse and Strom were there to embarrass them if they moved too far Left, have lately been seen maneuvering towards the Center/Left.
