I just can't read it. Not for the content or anything similar, I simply cannot wade my way through it.
Such endless colloquialisms and banal sarcasm are effective in brief doses like on a forum such as this, but a whole column of them gets tiresome.
But I suppose he's a popular feature of the Comical. I guess he plays a similar role to that of Maureen Dowd in NYT or Derrick Z. Jackson in the Boston Globe.
Right. By keeping him on board, but moving him to the SF Gayte, they are saying "look, we think he's a talented writer, but he's got a liberal biasm, unlike the rest of us."
They hope the other writers look like centrists when compared to him.
