The U.S. always insists that other nations obey "international law". Look at all those U.N. resolutions on Iraq that everyone was so upset about when they where violated. I certainly am not defending those Mexican criminals or the U.N., but we're reaping what we sowed here. If we don't have to listen to the U.N. then no one does.

Sounds like a slogan but let's change it a bit-"We don't have to listen to the U.N. and no one does... unless we say they better do it."

You're joking, right?

This isn't so much about the U.N. as it is treaties we've signed on to governing consular relations and how criminal suspects will be treated with regard to consular contact to their home country. If I got caught doing some heresy in Saudi Arabia, I'd sure as hell want to be able to see someone from the American consulate, and would consider my rights violated if denied.

I'd bet anything these guys are guilty as convicted, but our government failed us, and failed justice, by screwing up proper procedure.

If no one listens to the UN, why should we?

No one should lsiten to the U.N., least of all us. Its a defunct organization, a mob of petty tyrants from third world nations who haven't got the slightest idea what an election, democracy or popular rule really means, let alone the dignity of the individual or basic human rights.

The U.S. should evict the U.N. and pull out. Without American money, those third world paupers who all hate us and everything we stand for, would split up and go their own ways.
