Thought Ivins was going to have a nervous breakdown when Ma lost the election. She kept writing about the loss for a long time like someone died. She couldn't get over it that we turned out Ma! She ranted so much it was laughable.

Thought Ivins was going to have a nervous breakdown when Ma lost the election. She kept writing about the loss for a long time like someone died. The entire mainstream media was that way. I recall the Dallas Morning News describing Ma Richards as an "immensely popular governor" just a week or so before the election. Yes, she was immensely popular, but only with the press corps and a few liberal special interest groups. Dubya showed immense class when running against Richards. At debates, she would hurl demeaning insults at him and he would always respond politely. It made him look good and her look like a foul-mouthed, bitter old fool.
