I think we are basically hosed as far as any real liberty is concerned and I hold no illusions about regaining it or really scaling back government authority without resorting to some large-scale unpleasantness. The only thing is, how much are we prepared to lose? Do we value liberty above all else? I think for most people, the answer is clear.

They took The Jerry Springer Show off the air here & boy am I pissed.

What were you saying?

I don't think there will ever be an armed uprising over the loss of 2nd Amendment rights. People will give up their guns just like they did in Australia with nary a whimper. We all have too much to lose as we all have a tidy vested interest in our little bank accounts, our retirement portfolios and yes, even that criminal enterprise known as Social (in)Security. Over the last 100 years we have ALL been co-opted into the program. Do I like that? No, but I'm no spring chicken anymore; pre-emption is not an option for me. Unless pushed into something, I won't voluntarily give up arms, and I'll resist in as many ways as I can think of, but I'm sure as heck not going to start something on my own.

And that's where most people are on the issue when you get right down to it - if they are honest about it. And the damn politicos (including the corrupt judges - who are legion) know it. The Constitution no longer has any meaning to those elected to office. The RKBA has been changed to the PKBA and that isn't going to change anytime soon. No, I don't lik eit, but I don't see anyone running for office or currently in office who is willing to actually stand up for the RKBA when really pinned down. They, too, have a vested interest in the status quo.
