Barring a catastrophe or another 9/11 attack, it's pretty much a given that President Bush will be re-elected in just under 10 months from today. That's been already listed here on FR today. And Jay Currie has a VERY good point. The Dems KNOW they've already lost this election, and are using it to position for 2008 and, God Help Us, Hillary.

Who do we have / want who is in position to run for the Republican nomination in 2008 ???

Given that President Bush would want to have his successor continue his policies, who you all of you think is a worthy successor to George W. Bush, and our best defense against the Hildebeast ???

Yeah, so do I. Even the Clintons were smart enough to hold onto their sham of a marriage for political expediency....not that I think THAT should be the reason to hold onto it. I'm afraid it will really hurt him if they don't work things out. Otherwise, I think he is a great choice.

Frankly, if I had my way I'd love someone like Tom Delay to run for President (now that's conservative), but he's too polarizing a figure to win. My point with Rudy is he's conservative on the important issues that matter to voters of all parties, he shows the most leadership and, I'm sorry to repeat myself, HE CAN BEAT HILLARY! There's already an obvious rivalry there and it would be so sweet to see her beaten badly by someone from the GOP other than W.

Yep. Rudy could certainly beat Hillary handedly. As I said in an earlier post, Hillary is too radically leftwinged for a national run, even for New York as many in New York are already growing tired of her as a Senator. Rudy's best asset is the fact he became known as America's Mayor, and still remains popular, since 9/11. Rudy could easily be the next Senator of New York if given a chance, and has a pretty good chance in the national level if he were ever to run for Prez.

i would hope the republican party could find a candidate to run who's last name isn't bush. the concept of one bush after the other seems a bit arrogant to me, (although jeb would have been my choice for prez).let's be serious, there is no way he'd be elected.

As did I, and I am very impressed with the job he has done. Now I'm down here in the land of RINOs and RATs....and of course, FReepers. But officially, the Republican party in Arkansas is virtually nonexistent

Actually, I would consider Colorado, overall, to be pretty conservative. There are pockets of flaming liberalism in Denver and Boulder, but the majority of the state has voted pretty strongly conservative for a number of years. I really see it now, in contrast with Arkansas, whose politics are corrupt to the core. I don't know, maybe Colorado got fed up with Clinton butt boy Romer and swung all the way to other side. I didn't follow state politics too much prior to that time, but Colorado is largely pro-life, pro-gun, anti-illegal immigraton and pro-God.
