Character matters.

If we act like it doesnt, then we've just let Clinton and the Dems "define deviancy down".

Guliani is still a fine man, but let him run for Senate and/or stay in private life.

Plenty more candidates for Prez out there .... did I mention Texas Gov Rick Perry???

"Barring a catastrophe or another 9/11 attack, it's pretty much a given that President Bush will be re-elected in just under 10 months from today."

Deja vu 1992. It isn't wise to leap ahead so many steps.

Nothing about November 2004 is certain, particularly the election outcome.

Many forces will labor against GWB, including the democrats, the muslims, the school teachers, the government employees, the opposing dem presidential candidate, the media, various foreign nations (France, etc.), various minority and special interest groups.

From 15 Jan 2004 through 2 Nov 2004 I suggest fighting THIS WAR, not the one 57 months into the future.

I myself wouldn't want to get enmeshed in arguments and being labeled a hypocrite by liberals among the morning coffee gang at the local coffee shop if I threw my support behind Rudy, knowing he's had affairs that are essentially on par with The Bent One. I like Rudy, I think he'd make a great Senator, but I'm not going to throw every bit of my support behind a liberal Republican for President. It goes against my Conservative standards. I'm sick and tired of Christ being taken out of Christmas, the country's morality going down the tubes, and the ACLU making sure no one can stop the downward spiral of morality and religious freedom from being trampled on.

Another factor is that Rice isn't married, another big negative for Condi in the eyes of the religious conservatives.

Possible VP choice: Governor Tim Pawlenty of Minnesota. Pro-life, anti-tax conservative who managed to (i) get elected governor in traditionally überDemocrat Minnesota and (ii) staring down the RAT-controlled state senate and balancing the budget without raising taxes. While I don't like his position on prescription drug importation, and he needs a longer track record to know that he's for real, he's someone who could well make a good running mate in 2008. For the record, Rudy Giuliani and Condi Rice are both pro-choice on abortion and in favor of affirmative action. While I think Rudy would make a fine U.S. Senator from New York or Secretary of Homeland Security, and Condi would make a fine U.S. Senator from California or Secretary of State, the Republican Party should not nominate a presidential or VP candidate who does not agree with the basic principles on which our Party was founded.

well said.

That's probably the one issue I'm at odds with when it comes to the religious right. For me, whether she's single or married, is no big issue. Don't get me wrong, I believe in the sanctity of marriage (even though I'm single myself), but I don't think being married or single is that big of a deal. It worked for Kucinich, it could work for Rice.

That single factor doesn't matter to me - but it does to the Religous Conservatives and it is another factor that will result in low GOP turnout if she is nominated.

Kucinich is at 1% in the Prez race ... how did being single 'work' for him?
... you mean he wins by scoring with some aging hippie chicks? :-)

If he did, that's one voter that may vote for him. :D

That'd be a bummer if she voted for Dean. LOL :D

Well, you all know where I stand: Condi.

Or, as Colin Powell reacted when asked if he had any Presidential ambitions: "You'd better go ask Condi Rice about that. That's her department."

Be Seeing You,

Chris

My point is this:

If "we" will win in 2004, lets focus on implementing our agenda in 2005.

Winning elections is pointless if we dont have an agenda to push.

What's our 2005 agenda???

OK guys. Try this. Rice and the Williams sisters, or Rice and one of the Williams sisters and Tiger Woods. Hey, I know they are too young, but with 2 maybe we can add their ages together. After what Venus said to Clinton, I would vote for her any time (might regret it, but I've voted for some real losers in the past, so I doubt it).

He, he......

Is FR middle of the road?

I had hoped not. I had hoped we were the base.

I understand pragmatism...did a few term papers on it for my Political Theory Major but if W did not have this war in which he is doing splendidly btw, we would be in trouble.

If we have to become Dems (CFR, AWB ban, Education and Medicare bills, and now Migra-Amnesty) then what is the point?.....

I am hanging in there domestically since there is no option and Rove knows this all too well but we are going to coopt ourselves into simply Moderate Dem Lite if we don't stop.

It's a mixed bag and yes it sure beats Hildabeast as POTUS but it ain't victory...not to me.

I always thought that Fred Thompson was of good presidential stock, but he bolted for Hollyweird.

I've observed something here that I find very heartening, and must drive the lib lurkers nuts: SO many endorsements for Condi Rice - a black female - for president! I LOVE IT! Way to go, people. Class knows class.

A more Conservative agenda than what we have now. I only hope that W is only playing to the middle so that he can win re-election and keep the Democrats over there on the kooky fringe left because he's sucked the oxygen out of the middle for his own. If he suddenly bolts right, after the election, there'd be nothing that could stop his radical rightward momentum.

Don't be too upset - Rice doesn't have the nomination yet.

We have several good Conservative candidates that can run in 2008 - Allen, Santorum, Frist, Owens, Sanford (I obviously prefer Owens but I could live with the others).

Don't pull a PaleoCrackPot and abandon the GOP completely because then you'll end up like Sam Francis - stuck out in the 0.01% wilderness and having no influence whatsoever in the party.

2006-2008 is when we Conservatives need to come out and shine.

But be patient - I remember my Father told me after Nixon resigned that The Soviet Union would destroy the world because Ford was weak on defense. But 7 years later, Reagan was President and the rest is history.
