Plans for a spectacular attack on coalition forces in Iraq that would use chemical or biological weapons to kill up to 5,000 soldiers and civilians may be well underway, Fox News Mideast analyst Mansoor Ijaz is warning. "I have now heard three times in the last week, from separate sources that I have been talking to, that something big is being planned for Baghdad," Ijaz told Fox News "Special Report" host Brit Hume on Tuesday.
"The idea that is being put forward is to kill as many as 3,000 to 5,000 people at one shot; something that would be similar to a World Trade Center type of attack," he said.
Ijaz, who in Dec. 2001 blew the lid off the Clinton administration's decision not to accept multiple offers for Osama bin Laden's extradition to the US, detailed the accounts of Kurdish sources, who say they intercepted a convoy carrying suspicious cargo.
"About three days ago in the northern part of Iraq," said Ijaz, "a convoy of trucks and jeeps and cars was brought across from Iran where some of the Kurdish Peshmergah . . . They intercepted one of those trucks that were carrying a large warhead that had extremely sophisticated plastic -- C- 4 plastic explosives in it."
Ijaz said that once interrogated, the driver admitted that there were a total of 30 warheads that were scheduled to be imported to Iraq from Iran.
"We are told now that somewhere between six and 12 of them may have, in fact, been laden with chemical explosives that would be then attached to a rocket of some sort inside Iraq that's already there in a separate convoy."
There whereabouts of both convoys is currently unknown, said Ijaz.
How credible are his sources?
"They're unimpeachable," he told Hume. "I think they've been right all along."

And you have Lefties complaining about Apaches actually killing enemy combatants in Iraq. Killing the enemy!? Can you imagine?
Can we assume that once it is clear that insurgents will have no effect on the 2004 elections, that all bets are off with respect to WMD attacks both in Iraq and beyond? Granted it will leave moonbat fringe lefties looking like the jack-arses and naive collaborators that they are, but its not worth the casualties and misery inflicted.

From the article:
the driver admitted that there were a total of 30 warheads that were scheduled to be imported to Iraq from Iran.
As you see, Iran was mentioned. As to the rest:
"Which doubts [about WMD]?" Why, the media of course. AP, NYT, CNN are always hinting that our efforts are illegitmate because "No WMD have ever been found." They won't be able to say that, will they?
"How much more galvanized does the US population need to be?" I'd say the population needs to be galvanized enough to drive ABC, NBC, CBS, CNN, NPR, and NYT out of business for their anti-American reporting. That's all I'm asking for.

What is important in this article and the reason Ijaz reported it is to let the Iranians know that we know.Y'all say what you want but psyops is an important part of this war. If I was a betting man, and I am, I would say Ijaz works for the Farm.

Mansoor Ijaz
Isn't a loose cannon. He is the most conected person in that area for getting information..... you can be assured that it went to the right sources prior to going on the TV air.
To: Tumbleweed_Connection
Mansoors credibility leaves something to be desired.

If the WMD have to be imported from Iran, isn't just boosting the argument that there were no WMD in Iraq?

It boosts the argument that Terrorists have access to WMD.
It boosts the argument that Terrorism must be stopped once and for all.
It boosts the argument that Iran is a supplier of WMD.
Iraq is a done deal. We don't need to justify it. Saddam was a terrible man who did terrible things. And we stopped him. WMD have become irrelevant to any discussion on Iraq. But the War on Terrorism goes on. If WMD are imported from Iran to ANYWHERE, then Iran will be in for a world of pain.

Uh, slow down.
It would be very easy to frame Iran as the culprit. And, you wouldn't need a tinfoil hat, either.

Did you ever think that maybe they were taken over the border into Iran early this year? Many people on this forum equates the ME to the US as far as border crossings into Canada where you have gaurds that inspect and ask questions. That is just not the case. There are alot of back roads and such that people use to go back and forth.I will equate it with when I use to drive an 18 wheeler, overweight and out of hours running the scale houses here in the states.Gotta way with it most of the time but every now and then would get caught.

"Make a bet none of this happens? Mansoor Ijaz should be thrown off the air. If he had any creditable information he should have passed it to the US Military then shut his mouth. This has nothing to do with anything else but obtaining the spotlight. Talk about loose lip sink ships.....This guy is a loose cannon."
My sentiments as well. Thanks to this dingbat's warning (if true), nothing will happen, assuming the potential perps have half a brain (I know - tough assumption) Whereas, if he'd kept his mouth shut publicly and told the proper contacts in the US Military, maybe an attack could've been clandestinely prevented and some real information about WMDs found.

Convoys rolling accross the desert, undetected, bringing death & chaos to the infidels. Whatever....
How long do we have to wait for the attack? Will there be any forewarning - increased chatter, one if by land...
To: DCPatriot
I'll slow down. But will you explain? Who wants to frame Iran as the culprit?
Do you think the Terrorists are trying to get Iran in trouble?
Do you think the US has found warheads somewhere and is using them to get Iran in trouble? I think country of origin is pretty easy to determine for such things.
Usually, when I don't know who else to blame, I blame the French. But when warheads are coming over the border from Iran, I tend to turn my attention away from France.
So, who do you think is doing the framing?

I think that the point is if there are WMD's in the Middle East in the hands of regimes willing to distribute them to psychopaths intent on using them, then we are justified establishing an offensive position in the midst of that nest. The rhetorical politicos feeding on mendacious conjecture have concocted a non-issue involving the emminent threat of Hussein's WMD's as justification for the Iraq invasion, when no such justification was presented nor needed in light of 12 years of violations. Iraq exposed itself as a justifiable target for strategic initiative in a larger offensive in an ongoing war; not unlike the invasion of Normandy. As such, Iran is just as much a threat (possibly more-so) than Iraq was. So, quibbling over where WMD will come from is irrelevant. Getting rid of them and destroying the regimes that wish to employ them to committ mass murder on a phenomenal scale is the primary strategic objective.

Let's see reported Daniel Pearls death a month before it happened. Actually, Ijaz met with Pearl, before Pearl went to Pakistan, and they talked about the risks involved. Ijaz warned Pearl that just being Jewish would put him at extreme risk with the militants. So, when it was learned that Pearl was kidnapped, Ijaz knew completely what that meant. I think many people are in denial about Pearl's death... they don't want to believe that just being an Jewish, American reporter for the WSJ would put him at risk. But, apparently that is exactly why Pearl was killed. Evil can be extremely simple, no matter what the press wants us to believe.

I pray that nothing happens. But if something happens, it will remove all doubts about WMD, it will galvanize the US populationI hope you are correct also, but let me point out something. If this does happen, the spinless leftwits will ask, "Why wasn't this known about before it happened?"
Or "Bush knew but did nothing."
Or "We got what we deserved for invading a another country".
The lies from the morally decayed left will not end.
To: ClearCase_guy
Sorry. What I meant was that you'd have to take the word of the source stated. You just can't give Iran as you say, " a world of pain". THe students there are evidently doing everything possible to overthrow the Ayatollah rule and return to a secular government. You just can't carpet bomb (or worse) Iran where innocent populations would be killed.
It would be easy for Al Quada to frame Iran. Syria supposedly received truckloads of WMD from Iraq.
