FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
COMBINED FORCES COMMAND AFGHANISTAN
KABUL, Afghanistan -- In coordination with the Islamic Transitional State of Afghanistan, the Coalition continues to train the Afghan National Army, provide civil affairs support, and disrupt, deny, and destroy terrorist and anti-ITSA forces in order to establish a stable and secure Afghanistan.
Soldiers from Task Force 1st Battalion, 501st Parachute Infantry Regiment found three weapons caches while conducting a cordon and search patrol near Khost Tuesday. The combined caches consisted of almost two hundred 107mm rockets, fifty 82mm mortar rounds, and fifty 105mm high explosive artillery rounds, as well as anti-personnel mines, and boxes of ammunition. The munitions neatly stacked and serviceable were transported by coalition explosive ordnance soldiers to the firebase for destruction at a later date.
The Meanshakh Primary Girls School, Parwan province, has a grand opening today. The school was built under a $100,000 grant from the Overseas Humanitarian, Disaster and Civic Aid program. The school will accommodate approximately 1,250 students from the surrounding area.
