DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) -- Democratic presidential candidate John Kerry promises to stand up for hard-working people against an "economy of special privilege" as he fine tunes the arguments he'll take to voters before next week's Iowa caucuses.

"To me this is a matter of principle," the Massachusetts senator said in remarks prepared for delivery Wednesday. "Democrats should stand up for everyday Americans who work hard, hope for the future and face extraordinary challenges everyday."

I've heard that JFKerry is a Vietnam veteran, and that he fought in the Vietnam War, in Vietnam.

Have you heard anything about this?

News to me, but he sure talks about Vietnam a lot. Maybe he's yearning for the "good old days" when the U.S. got its butt kicked by punks?

In the speech, Kerry criticizes President Bush for policies that he says favor the wealthy and powerful.

Ummm...so we're supposed to penalize our most productive citizens? Sounds like communism to me.

And he pulls together previously announced proposals -- setting limits on executive pay

Well, now it no longer just sounds like communism: it IS communism. The government has no business setting pay caps on private industry. Period.

Why don't you go back to Vietnam, Ketchup boy? From the sounds of things, you'll find it to be a real utopia.

Exactly. That one is between the share-holders and the Board of Directors. When no one will buy their stock or their bonds unless under duress, these companies will begin to purchase a clue. I also noticed that Fastow got 10 years. Lay will no doubt follow in short order.

Be thankful it was only a photograph. Those who witness it first hand turn to stone.

Sounds funny, but it's not.

Unless they marry their wealth and do nothing to earn it. Then, it's perfectly acceptable to be stinking rich.

Not everyone can marry into money. Hey, maybe "John" is a nickname or a job description. Certainly would explain the "f'in" middle name.

In his speech, Kerry says working Americans deserve "a government on their side that knows when to take sides."

Translation: I will make it worth your while with subsidies if you vote for me.

When will my family me considered a working family? My husband works. We are on a fixed income as is pretty much everyone. We don't expect a bijillion dollars to suddenly end up on our doorstep. Yet, politicians think it is ok to rob Peter (us) to pay Paul(hard working, middle income, down on their luck so let the gov't give them some money for their woes and misfortune.) I am sick of it!!!

I heard somthing along those lines, but I think he may have been in The Vietnam War. Afterwards, he gave all of his medals back. His being someone elses, but I think he got them because he was a veteran of The Vietnam War, still in Vietnam. LOL!

If Kerry hadn't married rich women, he'd be a janitor some place.

"Democrats should stand up for everyday Americans who work hard, hope for the future and face extraordinary challenges everyday."

The principal challenges facing hard working people are the punitive tax and regulatory impediments placed on the openly declared enemy of the party, the people who invest in their companies and sign their checks.

Everyday? True. Not a day goes by that the Democratic party will not be found expending a great deal of effort to punish your and my boss for being successful.

That would require at least 8 out of the 9 current candidates to have a seat and zip their soup coolers.
