THank you everyone for all the prayers and support.
The police have picked up the suspect for "questioning" within the past hour. They said that they will hold him for as long as they can.

I will post more updates as I have information. Fpr now we have relaxed a little bit as the main worry is in custody. We are however keeping our guard up and on the look out for his friends.

May God surround your family with His providential care and protection, guide the LEO's to find evidence needed to charge those responsible for the crime and threats, and to get them off the street.

All that your suggestion would do is tell the world that there are guns, on a burglar's top five list, in the house. And, pushing a sociopathic 17 year old is like smoking in the magazine.

Contracts with Police Dept's typically spell out protection of property owned by the city period. They have no known duty to protect private people. 911 is a bad joke and should be used for ambulance or other medical emergencies only. They are typically set up by police and sheriff dept's. so that PO or SO can intervene and possibly drum up bidness for the courts. They are literally ambulance chasers and as a whole not to be trusted as they are all engaged in an assessable security scheme with the courts and BAR attorney's and at best are unwitting dupes for a promise of a fat pension of the backs of the people. And remove the 'WELCOME' MAT OFF OF YOUR FRONT PORCH ! ! OPEN INVITATION FOR POLICE OR ANYONE ELSE TO WALK RIGHT IN. [TAUGHT IN LAPD TRAINING.]
To: JOAT
Ask your hubby if he has a copy of his contract and if he has read it carefully as to what his duties and job description are ? Whom does he serve?

Please pray that the police find ample evidence to pick up this little punk, and that his threats are just the idle threats of a 17 year old thug. If you are going to pray over this, pray that you get a quick sale on your house. Move! Get out of the neighborhood. Nothing is worth living with this kind of situation. And if you can send the boy somewhere until the house sells, do that too.
As for the police, with the kind of information you have related, they should have no trouble solving this one. They are giving you the run around. Camp at the desk of the policeman that takes the complaint and insist that they do their job. Tell them either arrest you or arrest him because you are not leaving until they do one or the other.

Can't they extract DNA from those 2 cigarettes? (I'm a fan of New Detectives and Cold Case Files and have seen many cases solved that way.)

commish, you tell John Wilson he had better take care of this problem or his Mama will come down there and whoop him up side his head.

Latest Update :
The perp is being held overnight on suspicion of Breaking and Entering, Grand Theft Auto, Burglary, and Making Terroristic Threats. The investigator who has been the one helpful person also phoned my step-sons dad and said that they are actively pursuing leads on 2 additional suspects and hope to have them in custody soon.
Thank you all again for your support throughout this horrible day. I know I went off on our police department and the apparent lack of concern on the officers parts, but there was at least one detective who pursued this case today and he has brought some needed relief to my wife and children.
I know this kid will probably make bail, if and when he is charged, and that the threat to my family is not over--but at least we can sleep somewhat peacefully tonight.

I didn't go as far as you, but years ago when a punk threatened to harm my son and kill his dog, I waylaid said punk on his way home from school, grabbed him by the scruff of the neck, looked straight in his eyes and said "Punk, if you lift a finger againsy my son, my dog, or any member of my family, I will break your leg. And if you even think of telling anyone I threatened you, I will deny it, and then break both your legs".
That scared the crap out of the punk kid, and he never bothered any of my kids again.

Disregard my previous post. I see the cops now have things well in hand.
I will say a few prayers for your whole family and the step-dad. This is very disturbing stuff.
