Iams Partners With Leading Anti-Hunting Organization

The Iams Company, maker of Iams and Eukanuba pet foods, has joined forces with the Humane Society of the United States (HSUS), the nation's largest anti-hunting organization. The company is helping sponsor the Pet Fest America tour, a series of animal shows in major metropolitan areas, nationwide. The shows were developed by HSUS. They debuted in early 2003 and will continue through April 2004.
"Sportsmen, and in particular sporting dog owners, understand the threat HSUS poses to hunting, field trialing and other activities," said Bud Pidgeon, president of the U.S. Sportsmen's Alliance. "Iams has fallen into the same trap as some other businesses and it needs to be educated."
Companies such as General Mills, Accor Hotels, Pet Safe, Sears, and Ace Hardware ended relationships with HSUS after thousands of sportsmen levied strong protest.
"The Pet Fests are basically pet owner education and welfare events and also serve to educate and entertain consumers," Kelly Vanasse, Iams associate director of external affairs told the Alliance. "We also sponsor Ducks Unlimited, AKC and other events. We try to strike a balance."
Iams clearly doesn't understand how sportsmen will view its support for the nation's largest anti-hunting organization.
"We are currently fighting HSUS attempts to ban dove hunting in Wisconsin, bear hunting in Maine and Alaska, and other anti-hunting threats around the country," said Pidgeon. "Iams is adding legitimacy to HSUS's efforts."
The National Animal Interest Alliance was among those who alerted the Alliance of the issue.
Take Action! Sportsmen across the nation should contact Iams and educate them about HSUS's goals to end hunting, fishing, trapping and other forms of animal use.

A stray cat has food issues, usually. They'll eat anything, anytime, like it's their last meal. I'm surprised it turns its nose up at anything.
But the cat doesn't HAVE to have dry food. Just continue with canned if he won't eat dry.
And the smaller pet stores sometimes have free dry-food samples to give away, so you can experiment with decent brands more cheaply...

My two Akitas love Sensible Choice Chicken Meal & Rice Formula. Their coats are nice and thick.
We used to feed Iams but switch about 5 years ago.

She's 20.5 inches at the shoulder (measured at her last agility trial) and 42 pounds.
I don't see how your Lab can be much smaller and still be a Lab! Shelley-Dog is the "Vest-Pocket Lab" - she is English-bred (conformation) on her sire's side and Canadian-bred (field trial) on her dam's. Her size is all her dad's - the English Labs do tend to be smaller. Here she is with a "normal" American Lab:

BTW, she's not really herring-gutted - her rib cage is well-sprung, she's just VERY lightweight for a Lab, by the standard she's about 10 pounds underweight. We keep her skinny because she's competing in agility, and also because we love to hear the vets go gaga - "She's so beautiful - she's not too fat - she's just right!" Of course it takes tremendous self-control, because she hangs around and insists that she's starving .. .

Another great pic. Your first picture sure fooled me, you are right, your lab is very fit, trim and smaller than mine. Mocha is about 70 pounds and a little overweight. I am just about feeling guilty enough to take her for a walk tonight in the fresh half foot of snow!

You get her into agility and she'll be down to 55 pounds in no time!
Either that, or take her to the beach! (I wish we had some snow, Shelley loves the snow but she's almost 3 and we haven't had any since she was a tiny puppy.)

I have thought of agility training, she learns fast and would really love the "work" involved. We watch the trials on animal planet......Do you have any links with info or searching capabilities?

Weird. My cat quit eating their crap about a year ago; cold turkey. I told my wife that cat is a lot smarter than he lets on. Here's more proof. :-) Iams, hundenflocken or deer legs? My cats don't eat any of them either.

Science Diet is equal to Euchanuba. In fact, I think my Lab likes SD better than the Euch and Iams. (Of course it's hard to tell with a Lab. Mine has ingested some amazing things!)

And if she had any more energy, the house would fall down . . . :-D Yeah..I know the type.
Mine thrives on cheerios.
