You're right on the jam- Bha Jue has incredible physical ability, but is still very raw.  I'd take him on my roster in half a heartbeat, though.  Those techniques can be taught and learned.

Really, it was a matter of giving about a one yard space to make a perfect catch and then withstand a killer blow from Sharper and Anderson.  That pass will work one time in, maybe, fifty.  I'd like those odds if I'm the Pack.  You certainly didn't want Mitchell getting behind the deep help and it makes sense to keep Jue close to the line and send in the LBers while McNabb waits for the routes to develop behind an O line that wasn't pass blocking well.

Actually, as an Eagles fan and Football Geek, I can explain it: 

One factor is that Favre had been sitting on the bench for about 25 minutes through the two minute warning, end of regulation, the OT time out and the Eagles first drive.  Not the type of routine that's going to lead him to being in a groove and likely responsible for so much air being under the ball.

However, the decision to make the throw itself was a sound one.  When Favre came to the line he saw SS Michael Lewis walking to the line and the LBers showing blitz as well.  6-4 Javon Walker was lined up against 5-9 Lito Shepard with FS Brian Dawkins responsible for help across the top on both sides of the field. 

IF Walker had run a post pattern (he either had the wrong route or missed a line adjustment) he would have been in perfect position to catch the pass, but instead he ran a double move and was three yards inside and three yards short.  Walker has about a foot and a half when fully extended and leaping on both Shepard and Dawkins and VERY strong hands.  He SHOULD have caught that and GB would have had first and 10 on the Eagles 30 with Ahman Green running hard.

I think you're on the right track here with that statement and your other analysis.

Also, see if you agree with this. That pass was mostly a great catch. A fantastic catch. That ball was well behind Mitchell by several feet. He had to stop, turn, extend and catch a bullet of a pass over the middle. That was an all-world catch. Mitchell saved McNabb and saved the team. Balls like that are dropped all the time. Mitchell's athletic ability and desire for the ball was 80% of the story on that play.
