Rush was correct in his assessment of the media, if he was wrong in his assessment of McNabb! He could have said the same thing about the media's treatment of any one of the 3 top black women writers or about its treatment of so many mediocre racial minority actors and comedians, or its treatment of the amazingly dismal career (since the '70s) of a famous Las Vegas bluesman.

Farve throwing a ball that still defies explanation.

Just keeping up his average of at least 1 duck per game. When Mcnabb is off, they generally skip off the turf in front of the receiver.

No kidding. I don't think I have seen one commercial this past year with Brad Johnson in it...and he has a ring. Everytime I watch football it's McNabb this, McNabb that...gets old real quick.

Of course, I despise the Eagles so maybe that doesn't help matters.

The Eagles offense is run oriented and McNabb's throwing stats don't rank him in the top 10 in any of his years as a starter. His teams have won on defense, and have never reached a Super Bowl.

Well, I think you're hitting it on the head. QB rating is a stupid stat that only measures passing & it also takes into account, in part, the percentage of touchdowns per pass attempts.

If you have a decent running game & a great defense then there should be less reason & opportunites to pass as you play a ball control offense. If you're in a ball control offense of this type with plenty of rushing TDs then of course your QB rating will be lousy.

I'm no big McNabb fan but I probably couldn't find five NFL quarterbacks I would take before him.

He's very athletic, but he can't think.

Disclaimer: I am an Eagles fan who is well aware of McNabb's deficiencies when they present. Having said that, you have no evidence that he can't think.

The NFL hypes McNabb because he's a marketable guy, a good citizen who is well-spoken, has a nice smile, and is capable of making exciting plays. Race may play some factor, but Rush's analysis was way overblown. In case no one noticed, the NFL hypes just about every player in the league.

The announcers often make exscuses for McNabb but then they do the same for Favre when he makes a bonehead move. Did the same for Warner when he was the QB of the minute.

By the way, I'm a huge Eagles fan (no matter who is behind center) and a Rush listener, so this controversy really annoys me.

Rush's statement wasn't foolish,it was idiotic in the extreme. One of the dumber things he has ever said on air. Not that I ever had any respect for his football knowledge but that comment embarassed him and marked him as one who has NO idea about the NFL outside the rotten STeelers. Any one with the slightest idea about the NFL would kill to have McNabb play for him including Bill Cowher.

He will be the best qb in the league after Favre retires (if he ever does.) As a Bears fan I can only fantasize about having a qb of McNabb's stature and ability. The last time they were in the playoffs McNabb played one of the best games I have ever seen a qb play and beat them. He was unfricking believable.

Russ should apologize for letting his supporters down with such crappy comments and admit he was dead WRONG. But he won't.

You have never seen an ad with McNabb? Do you even watch the NFL?

There is a Visa ad run constantly where a guy thinks he is trimming a bush in McNarr's yard, but it isn't his yard. There is the NFL merchandise ad. There was the soup ad. There are others that escape me.

explanation: favre was about to get CREAMED by Ike Reese and threw it up for grabs rather than take a hit.

McNabb dethroning Favre? Only in the liberal imagination.

100% correct. The media has been over hyping McNabb since his days at Syracuse. They are the ones who made McNabb the next coming of Doug Williams, the last 'great' black quarterback according to them. Why should they stop now? They have even MORE reason now since Rush's comments. Nevermind other great QBs like Manning and McNair. These fools have even chosen to elevate McNabb over Vick. Face it folks, McNabb is the media's darling, and this won't go away soon.

You are very articulate on the matter. Hope to see your overrated QB go up against my Patriots' D in the Superbowl.

He has said he wants to make Rush his motivational coach.

Why can't he give it a rest? It's turning into a contest of wills. I expect more from Rush.

Why is McNabb's career "amazing"? Let's see him lead his overrated peace-of-sh/t-of-a-team to a victory in the Big Dance first. ....Or even just take them there. He'll be 0 - 3 in NFC Championship games if Philly loses to Carolina next week. .....My money's on the Panthers.

What exactly has Vick accomplished? I think the jury's still out on him -- he hasn't even played the equivalent of a full season.

I agree the Panthers have a good shot. They have a good running game which is Philly's Achilles (nice rhyme, huh?)

However, Carolina cannot repeat the comedy of errors they displayed vs. the Rams. They got away with that because Martz played not to lose.

McNabb is a good QB but not great. He and the Eagles were lucky to win that game against the Pack, they were outplayed for the entire game. McNabb can pull off some impressive scramble runs and throws, but is not a consistent passer. He is vulnerable to the blitz and will make ill-advised throws or fumble when hurried. I predict if Carolina wins it will be Julius Peppers making a big play or two against McNabb.
