Actually, in this instance Franken is spot on - Rush does not do well at all in a one-on-one debate.
Perhaps, but Franken is far worse. He only gets by playing the "comedian" and getting to zing one-liners to willing interviewers. When confronted with differing views, he quickly goes ballistic, even to the point of physical confrontation. My guess is his show will be a lib love-fest and only some token conservatives will be allowed on to get abused, a la Bill Maher.

O'Reilly picked a subject that most folks don't care much about.
As for Al....I think he will pull in big numbers...maybe even half of what Rush does....for about one month...and then it will start tapering back....maybe to 10 percent of what Rush sells.

"I'll ask him advice: how he approaches a show, how he frames an issue. If it doesn't happen it will be very understandably because he won't take my call," Franken said. Rush: "Al, just be yourself. I'll pound you silly in your timeslot"

Franken said he planned to use a mix of interviews, calls from listeners and scripted comedy.
You may want to script those interviews and calls too, Al.
This is not an ideology that can withstand several hours a day of caller scrutiny where their goofball notions can be shot down by any truck driver with a cell phone.

I'll bet that outside of New York, DC, San Francisco, LA, and Boston, no markets will even be interested in picking up this show, if it ever happens at all.

Let him go for it....I'll keep conjuring up images of his "Stuart Smalley" character as he speaks into the microphone.

"Franken, whose earlier book was called Rush Limbaugh Is a Big Fat Idiot, said he plans to call up his nemesis for advice on his own show since Limbaugh has often said he wonders why new radio hosts don't seek out his counsel. "
Is there NOTHING these creeps won't lie about?

I can see many of us listening the first day or two just for the "highway pileup" effect
To: Dr. Scarpetta
I cant wait for this
risky scheme to get going. The sooner it does, the sooner this effort collapses. My guess is that it goes belly up right after the election, blaming their increasing losses on the ignorant masses who just dont appreciate their elitism.
If Al Franken speaks on the radio and, no-one hears him, does he still make a sound?

I always thought of Franken as one of the unfunny second-tier crew on SNL. He looks funny, but that was about it.I remember some of his first appearances on SNL where he would wear a satellite dish on his head. Even that far back his spots were never particularly funny. He went downhill from there with his efforts at prime time television. His character was the same whenever I saw him - a poorly played sitcom side character that was stretched to a central role by adding additional "side character" material.
