President Bush Spends Private Time with Rope-line Soldiers
Military Intelligence web-board | 1.13.2004 | TruthNtegriy

Posted on 01/14/2004 9:08:33 AM PST by TruthNtegrity

This is the entire message I read:

Haven't heard this in the press but was posted to one of my military INTEL sites. Sounds right though and seems to be in line with other similiar reports of our President and his interactions with his military..........

Quote

" On 7 November, I had the opportunity to send some of my soldiers to the White House to participate in a Presidential departure ceremony. It was billed as they would get there, get a brief by the Mil Asst. and stand behind the ropes and wave as the president went out to Marine One. I thought it would be a good opportunity to reward some of my Officers & NCOs who day in and day out deal with death firsthand.

As it turns out..Once they got there, they were ushered into a separate holding room from the rest of the crowd and given the briefing. Just as they were to go out to the viewing area, an aide came and told them to follow him. The aide took them through the West Wing, into the Rose Garden. The staff and Secret Service left then the group alone in the Rose Garden . Without a word, the President came out and spent 20 minutes with the group, alone and away from the press. I'm telling this second hand so please forgive me.

They said he came out and thanked them for the enormous job they did for the families of the fallen. As he addressed the group, he began to weep, the emotion he displayed changed those soldiers forever.

They were standing before the most powerful man in the world and he was crying talking about the fallen and the price of freedom. He said he wanted the world to know that freedom was a God given right...for all, not just those of us in the US and that to have freedom, the price is high especially when it is counted in the lives of soldiers who volunteered willingly knowing the possible consequences. The soldiers returned with a renewed enthusiasm and determination to right by the families. As they each shared their stories, they too welled up with tears as they described their time with the President.

The aide said the President never does things like this, but once he found out that folks from the Army & Marine Corps Casualty & Mortuary Affairs Office were participating in the ceremony, he cleared his schedule to spend 20 mins with them.

I just wanted to share that story with you. It makes me proud that our President would do that to show his gratitude to our soldiers."

I second everything you said. I have just about given up reading most of the posts on FR because I take it very personally when some of the people on here bad mouth our President. Constructive critisim I have no problem with, but the hatred spouted on some of these threads just makes me physically ill. This post shows what a good man President Bush is and I will do all in my power to help him win reelection. God bless America, our President, and all our brave military personnel.

The RATS can't bash that as a "photo op".

This is beautiful. There is so much that goes on behind the camera. Too bad we don't have a free press or more people would know about the goodness of this man.

"Here in Norman, every public school classroom now has a sign that reads "In God We Trust" which was approved by our Superintendent of schools and placed in classrooms after the break."

What great news!

" You know, I've spent too much time reading posts of freepers who hate this President, almost with the passion that the far left does.
I've read repeated cynical, hate-filled, sarcastic and ugly comments about him by many who claim 'conservatism' and love of country as the basis for their hatred of him.

Articles like these that reveal the deep character, humility and love of George W. Bush wipe those ugly comments away."

This e mail just reinforces what many of us know about George Bush. He's a man of honor, a man of integrity and decency, a humble and loving man.As for the Far Righteous hate mongers who justify their venom towards President Bush by wrapping themselves in the mantle of conservatism- I truly hope they make good on their threats and vacate the Republican Party. We'll all be better for it.

I got to thinking about this story while I was out working.

I was reminded that most President's don't pay much or any attention to the attendees at the rope line; they leave it to staff assistants to invite and greet them. It makes me wonder, how did the President find out about who was going to attend, that he could intervene and ask them to a private meeting in the Rose Garden?

I wonder if the scheduled attendees are printed on a list and someone in the scheduling dept. of the WH decided that the President should know about this group?

And after he learned of the attendees this special day, he took the time to meet with them privately, far away from press and cameras, to have a time to thank them for their hard work, their very difficult work.

I am even more touched by this story than I was this Morning.

It's these remarkable events that occur without cameras or media, and touch the hearts of our troops, the needy, the wounded, that reveal the true character of our most amazing and godly President.

You know, he speaks for all of us at home. That's something I haven't felt in a President ever before. When he honors our military, I just feel he's doing that from his heart, but also his message to the troops is from all of US, too.

I couldn't have said it better. I've always felt that he's greeting them and smiling at them for me. You nailed it. Thanks.
