Hillary's book sold well because yes there were libs who wanted to "do their duty" to defend her name. She also did a substantial signing tour (with many signed copies then going on sale at eBay or Bookfinder). Librarians did their part to buy in quantity (over 50 copies for Houston). It also presented a convenient way to hide a payoff "I'll take x number of books".

The Dixie Chicks were the ones who had libs buying their albums even though they hated country music. There were even libs who admitted to such behavior.

Too bad we can't find out just how many of those people actually read the book. I suspect most copies are gathering dust on cofee tables.
